Fun while it lasted...

Rolling my own has been a little hobby that I have enjoyed lately. Too late in the game however because in one month---sales of RYO cigarette tobacco will be illegal. It was fun while it lasted.

You keep citing that bill. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Doesn't this say delivery sales of RYO tobacco will be made illegal? you can still walk into a bodega and get a pack of Drum.

Yeah, the only thing I see that's a big change is defining RYO tobacco as "cigarette." And also, changing the law to say you can't mail "cigarettes"/smokeless tobacco through the US Postal Service. Don't think they're banning sales.

"Revises the definition of "cigarette" to include roll-your-own tobacco and to exclude cigars. Defines "delivery sale" to mean any sale of cigarettes or smokeless tobacco to a consumer ordered by telephone, the mails, or the Internet or other online service." (my emphasis)

It's only going to be illegal to sell it online or over the phone. You can still buy it at your local corner store. That's my reading, anyway.

Oh, phew, that sounded insane to me, even by American standards. I'm a filthy smoker, and I usually opt for the pre-rolled packs, but being able to pick up a bag of loose tobacco and stretch it out to make thirty some-odd thin cigarettes keeps me from going nicotine-crazy in times of brokeness.
