I keep hoping that the people will eventually realize that it's more satisfying to snark at and make fun of rich and/or famous public figures committing insane acts of hubris than it is to mock people that fall outside conventional beauty standards doing earnest things that they never intended for public release.

No luck yet.

While I agree with the most of the sentiment of your post, if you don't intend for a video to be a public release, you don't upload it to YouTube for public consumption.

I'm not going to mock her looks or anything, but she certainly could have been more enthusiastic about her performance. It's kind of like she was kidnapped and forced by her captors to make a Lady Gaga video. If you're going to do something like this, throw yourself into it and show some enthusiasm like the Star Wars Kid and the Gap "Plaid Romance" people did. Even those prisoners doing the Thriller reenactment video looked like they were having more fun.
