I know it's just an expression and all, but if you know your mate has struggled with alcohol, perhaps "going out for a pint" isn't the best way to celebrate his birthday. Geez.

That sucks. I didn't like the Stereophonics but anytime someone dies this young and this tragically it blows.
And only recently the Beebs has shown a doc on rock drummers featuring the untimely deaths of John Bonham and Keith Moon. So unfortunately Stuart's in good company. posted by fearfulsymmetry at 10:53 AM on June 7, 2010
The Stereophonics are a local band for me. I'm not really a fan of their music, but I saw them play in Swansea in front of 50,000 people in 1999. They put on a good show.
A friend said: "We've been told that he choked on his own vomit and that is what killed him. It is tragic but Stuart was a real party animal and loved the rock'n'roll lifestyle. It was how he would have wanted to go."
Well, I'm playing "Performance and Cocktails" in memory, for what it's worth.
(Note to self: If you ever make it big as part of a band, make sure you aren't the drummer.) posted by caution live frogs at 12:09 PM on June 7, 2010
Houses of the Holy
Was a really bitchin' album
Bonzo kicks ass on it
And then he chokes on his vomit
The way a rock star's s'posed to die
The way a rock star's s'posed to die
The way a rock star's s'posed to die
--The Rugburns, "Me and Eddie Vedder"
yes, I know, not directly after Houses of the Holy
Well, if you're gonna go...
