Some people really do have too much time on their hands: Lego Football

Lego Football - re-enactments of football (the soccer version, to most of you) matches, including England vs. USA (for some reason only on The Guardian site, following an annoying intro).

If you don't like or understand soccer and believe your nation's indigenous sports are superior, it would be really cool if you didn't bother banging on about it, as that has been done in many previous threads and is frankly rather tedious, not to mention irritating

Jeez, what's with all the recent posts about Lego? My nation's indigenous building toys are superior. Construx for life!

Your favorite toy brick reenactment of your favorite sport sucks.

(although this is actually pretty great)

Right. God forbid that someone's chauvinistic tic should distract from your oh-so-crucial FPP about fucking Lego.

Construx for life!

Yeah, if you like playing with dry spaghetti and bubble gum. Construx noodles are clearly inferior to Lego Bricks.

Clearly, they do not have much time on their hands at all because they're very busy being creative with what time they do have.

Ah-ha! So Rob Green has little rounded two-pronged claws instead of hands! That explains it...

Lego Foosball, in an abstract sort of way.

Lego Star Wars Foosball, still small but more solid.

Electric Football, by Coleco, a cheesy Back to Basics nostalgic "commercial", and an enthusiastic fan showing it all off (his electric football kit, that is).

I know, right? Because if they'd spent this much time merely watching the sport like the vast majority of fans, no one would find it the least bit odd.

I didn't see any Lego figures flopping and clutching at their knees when an opposing Lego figure came within four feet, so I can only conclude it's a poor representation of the actual game.

Oh man, that brings back memories. I took the vibrator out of that thing, and installed it in the seat cushion of an easy chair in our house. The sitter was sitting there, reading us children a story. Just at the decisive moment, I switched it on. She got back at me though. She broke a lamp after putting us to bed, and told my mother that I did it.

Can we eliminate the phrase "you have too much time on your hands" when talking about people who create awesome stuff like this? Are we all supposed to spend our time toiling away at work, never doing anything else? I mean, how the fuck else are people supposed to spend their time? Watching TV? Is that a valid use of time?

You read a book? You went for a walk? You stopped to smell the roses?

Clearly you have too much time on your hands.

sorry, as someone who has been accused more than once of having too much time on my hands, usually by people who spend their Saturdays watching sports on TV, this is just a pet peeve of mine

I only meant the "too much time on their hands" thing tongue-in-cheek. I think this is marvellous.

Also, apologies for my post-script. Reading it back to myself, it may be somewhat obnoxious.

Those are actually rather good representations of the goals. Sky Sports ought to use them if they don't have the rights to show the actual goals.
