Which Andrew W.K. was that? He looked like the real deal, not the party guy who didn't sing and looked much younger and smaller.

Well, the description in the FPP is right; it truly is a cutting contest like no other. That being said, it was very entertaining in its own right. I was first introduced to Gonzales through his album Solo Piano. It's a nice little piece of piano music, very reminiscent of Erik Satie. Used it as "lullaby" music for my then 9-month-old a few times.

This piano battle reminded me a lot of early Keith Jarret improvs, minus the Asshole Genius™ factor.

I like the idea of musical battles, and I think that Gonzales made a slightly better effort, but I didn't find either of them to be very talented or entertaining as far as improvising at the piano is concerned. When I negated their star power, it was kind of boring to listen to.
