Everything sounds better in a Leeds accent. This is great, thanks for posting!

Their version of Starstrukk was up there with the Marina and the Diamonds cover.

This is much better than I'd expected. And proof that not all pop music is shit. You can do an interesting cover of a bad song, but it won't be good. This is good. You can't do that without good source material. (I will admit, though, that I didn't really recognize most of this, except for the fucking execrable Alicia Keys / Jay-Z number. If I could wipe one song completely out of history, that would probably be it. Or maybe "Proud to Be an American.")

There are no bad songs, only poor performances/interpretations. Look no further than what the Fatima Mansions did with Brian Adams' (Everything I do) I Do It For You.

Take one of pop history's most annoying few minutes of insincere romantic claptrap and reinterpret it as just that, insincere romantic claptrap. One for the ages.

I think there are plenty of lousy songs that probably only hold up because of stellar performances. Frankly, I think Everything I Do is an awesome glug of early-90s syrup, but probably not a very good song (and I don't care for the interpretation you linked to). But, of course, opinions, assholes, etc.

My, what an apt tagline that would make for our favorite community weblog.
