The Princess Bride...

The Princess Bride... "In the 1980s, a timeless story was brought to life... after over a decade, it has returned... the most anticipated remake in a generation... in a way it has never been seen before." And that's an understatement.

If they wanted to expend not inconsiderable effort on something completely pointless, why not build a cathedral out of cheese instead?

That might have been funny.

Most disappointing download since the last SimCopter patch.

A warning that this is a link to a 23.7MB .MOV file would have been nice.

Hijinx... my bad. It didn't even occur to me since I saw it over a T1. My apologies.

As for it being the most disappointing download since your last SimCopter patch... well, I didn't promise Nirvana. I thought it was funny, and thought a few of you would concur.

I think I'll stick to polygyny posts.

It seems like it should be funny.

Hell, if I had a shot at polygyny, I probably wouldn't have time to post.

worst...download...ever.

except the laughing shark.

Man, that laughing shark was great. I think it was a good laugh, but could have been better if it was shorter. Thanks for the laugh (loving my T1 connection).

i hereby nominate the laughing shark as the official mascot of bad mefi downloads.

I second that nomination, and call for a vote.

I think that this movie has jumped the dead laughing shark.

Anybody care to describe it and save the rest of us the download?

Hello, my name is cheap sucker who downloaded 23.7MB file over phone lines. You killed my hard drive. Prepare to die...

oh, nevermind...

description: The Princess Bride, as acted out by rubber shark puppets. It's as fun as it sounds.
posted by Hackworth at 5:13 PM on July 30, 2001

Eh, it's just some scenes from the movie acted out with rubber sharks playing the characters. They even lifted the soundtrack directly. Pretty innocuous.

Er..yeah...what Hackworth said.

Two man-eating shark fins up! The feel-good download of the year! I laughed, I cried, I shut down the window and went back to work.

i liked it. of course, having a cable modem helped. man that laughing shark is funny.

Shame that one of my worst links ever drew the biggest crowd. I'm not sure what, exactly, I should infer from that, though... Sure glad to see that at least a few of you thought it was funny. Maybe the humor threshold was low enough that if you had to wait for the download, it wasn't worth it. You know, the digital incarnation of the great dollar movie.

I liked it (snicker) even if it did take an hour to download....

i imagine most of those that liked it are big princess bride afficiandos. so you're catering to a specific demographic.

if the word "inconceivable" makes you giggle in staff meetings because of PB associations, you'll like this.

It streamed for me real-time, but it still wasn't worth the time it took me to watch. I love that movie, it's very funny, but re-enacting it with rubber shark puppets doesn't make it any funnier.
