I was going to immediately shit on this, due to a negative reaction to Internet douchebags and their love of pirates. However, the picture linked by thecjm silenced all my criticisms.

Was the governor purchasing 'booty' aware that the word referred to colored thread, needles, and buttons?
I was expecting the 'Pirate Fun' page to be less terrifying. More singing, drinking, swordplay, etc. and less torture.

It was maybe the early 18th C -- a simpler time when people did not have the internet. Lots of people relaxed by making prisoners eat other peoples' body parts. It was just the fashion in those days.
