Yes, that's me as the Impressive Clergyman. Yes, I know that's a mixed metaphor, but I did actually mix the two ceremonies. posted by MrMoonPie at 1:23 PM on August 2, 2010 [1 favorite]
At least they kept it in the DC Universe. Just think if Wonderwoman married Batwing - now that would be a cross-over special. But I did see Wolverine and what might be a bald Captain America in the audience, so they are an open-minded couple. I really want to know the story behind Mild Mannered Granny (first row, far left). She has the potential to be a secret villain, bent on destroying this happy day or undermining their relationship with faint praise and back-handed comments. posted by filthy light thief at 1:25 PM on August 2, 2010 [1 favorite]
Awesome. I love themed weddings. Keep them coming! (especially you, MrMoonPie - I hope I hope I hope they had managed to pull of a stealth themed wedding). posted by muddgirl at 1:28 PM on August 2, 2010
I clicked on the middle link, I saw the photo, I saw Bananaman waiting patiently with his hands folded in the second row, and I realized that upon seeing that, the day has nowhere to go but down. posted by FAMOUS MONSTER at 1:28 PM on August 2, 2010 [3 favorites]
I liked the picture of the guests in the second link they looked like they were attending an NA meeting for super heroes. Perhaps they could be. posted by GenjiandProust at 1:29 PM on August 2, 2010 [1 favorite]
I always wonder what the non-costume-owning friends do at events like these.
I mean, surely they must have some friends that just aren't going to dress up as..well, anyone.
Do they just not get an invite or what? posted by madajb at 1:30 PM on August 2, 2010
I like to think that Bill Clinton received invitations to both weddings, got mixed up, and showed up at his daughter's wedding dressed as Two Face. posted by mannequito at 1:32 PM on August 2, 2010

muddgirl, nah, that wedding was the most planned, non-stealth, best-attended wedding of any of them, I'd say, on the rooftop terrace of the Newseum, catered by Wolfgang Puck. I think it was the first one I got paid for--the couple actually broached the subject, acknowledging in their initial email to me that this was rather outside of what I had volunteered for. posted by MrMoonPie at 1:41 PM on August 2, 2010
The wedding party had some pretty good costumes, and I thought the Powerpuff girl bridesmaids were fantastic, but Rorschach in the back totally takes the cake. posted by myelin sheath at 1:43 PM on August 2, 2010

Just joking about the ubiquity of the strapless dress, which has been so for so long that I am surprised to see a dress with sleeves anymore. But I don't really like traditional wedding clothes in general. Party weddings like this are much closer to my speed! posted by padraigin at 2:16 PM on August 2, 2010 [1 favorite]

I think if I was going to dress as Batman for my wedding, I'd want a much more attractive pair of Batpants. I mean, I can see not wanting to wear tights, but those are just terrible.
And impressive collection of costumes otherwise, though. posted by jacquilynne at 2:48 PM on August 2, 2010 [1 favorite]

There was a great run on the She Hulk comic a few years back, where she worked as a lawyer on cases involving other superheroes. It was fun, and pretty unlike the rest of Marvel's line-up, so naturally in the end the creative team were replaced and it went all GRIMDARK and adventures with SHIELD and blah blah seen it all before. posted by ArmyOfKittens at 2:58 PM on August 2, 2010 [1 favorite]
