I agree he should have his hands on the wheel, but I've seen people doing the dash drummer thing who touch the wheel a lot less than this guy does. I think it's fun and now I want to learn to sing along with my hands. Anyone within earshot would prefer that to the noise I make when I sing.

OK, OK, lots of health and safety red flags here. But please! Sometimes you just have to rock out. Could have been a worse song. Clichéd post-Wayne's World? Yes. Hell, clichéd post-summer of 1976? Could be. But still rock-outable, with lax wheel control? Definitely. In any language.

Well, I liked it. Years ago I was at a dance recital somewhere where they choreographed a piece that was based on and inspired by the ASL for the lyrics to John Lennon's "Beautiful Boy" -- some of the signs were done straight, and gradually some of the gestures got more and more stylized into dance moves. It was really something striking, and kind of opened up for me that there was this whole sense of expression, there are entire puns and jokes you can make, with ASL that you can't do with spoken language. You can't really "dance" with spoken language, after all.

For youtube ASL song interpretation, I really like Captain Valor. He's fun and expressive, and I think it's great that on some of his videos (like the one for (NSFW if your workplace doesn't like songs about fucking) First of May), he provides the song lyrics as well as a direct interpretation of the signs he uses, so you can see the difference in the grammatical structures of ASL and English. (Also, his interpretation of the "moving my hips like yeah" line from Party in the USA is just adorable!)

If you have GarageBand (or something similar), you can now find the multitrack studio mix tapes of Bohemian Rhapsody (on a torrent somewhere near you.) Freddies lead vocals, and even the backing vocals are amazing to hear in solo. It's also quite instructive to see just how much they managed to squeeze into 16 tracks.

TRUE STORY: A friend and I were on the T in Boston. Somehow one of us had gotten Bohemian Rhapsody stuck in our head earlier in the day. We always sign while on the T - or in any crowded area actually, because it's just a heck of a lot easier than talking, and more fun - so we started signing Bohemian Rhapsody. We got a bit dramatic. I seem to recall really hamming up the "no escape from reality" bit. And there was definitely some head banging going on during the imaginary guitar solo. As we got off the train, a man who had been sitting across the train from us the whole time grabbed my arm and signed "YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!" I'm not sure how I could tell, exactly, but he looked exactly like the sort of person who was really in to rock and roll before he became an upstanding businessman and cut his hippie hair. He looked THRILLED. It absolutely, totally, completely made my day.

That's seriously one of the funniest memories I have of when we lived in the same coop. To add to the story - we were traveling with your mom (and dad?
