An aide to Kansas Senator Sam Brownback has decided to blog his observations about Washington politics, phone-etiquette/power, and other Beltway business. Is this a good idea? Will the Senator's constituents appreciate this, or be ticked off at the candor?

Sounds like a very bad career move. I'm sure his boss will not appreciate it when he/she finds out.

they say you should block it out. america, i can't block you out. you are speaking -- yelling rather -- and i'm listening. it's this stupid reaction i have to care. i want to take the time to tell each one of you that our government is fighting it's hardest to give you and your children a better future.

This might be fun if he wasn't trying to sound like Peggy Noonan in every paragraph. I had no idea answering a senator's phones was so dramatic.

some of these guys are more entrenched than the Senators themselves, he's probably safe doing it.

I doubt he's very entrenched - legislative correspondents are among the lowest folks on the pole in hill offices. But chances are fairly good that his bosses won't find out at least for awhile. He probably is in charge of administering Brownback's site and thus likely receives the email. But when they do, I'm sure he'll be told to stop.
