And now, let's go see what the Stig is up to...

Perhaps following the original Stig, the current masked driver on Top Gear announced they would write an autobiography. Un/fortunately the secrecy clause of his contract has been brought up, and the lawyers rear their heads. There is talk-talk of 'human rights' issues. British radio talk shows seem to be amused (no links fellows, alas)

Some say his autobiography is an attempt to cash in. Others, that his restrictive contract terms are denying him the right to free speech. All we know is that he's going to be out of a job soon.

The Stig!

Some say, human rights do not legally apply to him.

And others say he himself is a violation of the Geneva convention.

All we know is, not very much!

Lest we forget what happened to the previous Stig.

Jeremy Clarkson endorses things? Do companies pay him to endorse their competitors products? Or does he offer companies a choice of paying him off or having him endorse their stuff?

But if they kill off the white stig, whill they hunt down black stig or find a new one?

Coming to a TV near you this autumn... Magenta Stig.

One one hand, Magenta Stig sounds like a drag act. On the other hand, Magenta Stog sounds like a drag act...

In related news, racecar driver Racer X to write autobiography, reportedly to tell public "what he hasn't been able to tell people."

Pshaw, we all know it's Michael Schumacher anyway!

Isn't it a bit early for a new "Who is The Stig" manufactured controversy?

I always thought the BBC were missing a trick by not making a Super Sentai/Power Rangers-esque kids show, featuring a rainbow of Stigs.

They could also have May as a Q-type technical whiz, Hammond as their mascot and Clarkson as an ignorant twat.

Rubens Barrichello, is that you?

Comes down to money of course. He does do the heavy lifting on the show of teaching celebrities how to run around a track, and is risking his life in exotic sports cars for an entertainment program.

Then again it could just be a marketing stunt to drum up publicity for a fake autobiography.

The whole thing about having a secret identity is that the guy inside is beloved for the secret identity. I don't see why they couldn't let the guy under contract go work as "The Stig" for as long as he wants to. Replacement Stigs? Them too.

Really, though, a biography of the Stig -- not the guy in the costume, but the Stig himself...

And why no Stigettes, other than it'd potentially upset the boyzone unless she was dressed like an action hero?

This is the imaginary radio advert for a Stig book playing in my mind.

JEREMY CLARKSON: Some say he authored 'The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.'

The 'oo' in tattoo here is pronounced with a rising and then falling tone, almost lengthening it to two syllables.

OMG OMG OMG How awesome would it be if they actually "replaced" the Stig with Racer X?!?!

You never know, a Stig autobiography might just be boring...

Drove a car round a track. Drove another car, around the same track. Drove a rubbish car around the same track. And repeat.

If they haven't offered her the job as Stig yet, they should. I didn't know it was even possible to drive a cargo van like that.

Or, you know, considering his speech patterns, really quiet.
