Canadian man is upset that his marijuana plant was stolen, so phones police. (SLYT)

"They were pissed off--they were goin' to come up and arrest me for 'production' or somethin' like that. He called it 'dope', and I says, "Well, dope is coke, eh?" I don't grow dope; I grow weed, eh?

The sad thing is, in a sane world his actions would have been completely within reason.

I saw this on "Cops" once, but it was with crack. I like the bit from the RCMP, something like: obviously we'd never say 'you grow four plants or less and that's OK, we won't charge you', every case is different . . .

Heh. He's saying exactly that. It isn't just me is it?

Heh. That's cute. Canadians still can't grow pot legally.

As an aside, in some of the Gulf Islands, the RCMP only come over on the ferry one day a week.

Think about this for a nano-second.

" Well, ya see ... the law is enforced every Tuesday; that is, unless its really windy; and B.C. Ferries cancels their sailing. "

Oh, and pay no attention to that zig-zagging International Border Line, meandering around out there in the middle of the frikken gulf. Because that border is SEALED, dammit. Otherwise, all that Homeland Security crap would just be a huge charade; and a complete waste of time money, and resources, right?

Are you Portugese or something?

Pope Guilty: “Are you Portugese or something?”

I live in Colorado, so I can grow up to four plants of my own. It's gotten to the point where I can't spend less than half an hour at the liquor store around the corner because the owner, nice guy that he is, insists on showing me how awesome his buds are coming up these days.

I thought you guys legalized the stuff.

The best is right at 1:00 after the reporter asks him "and they never came?" and he dismisses it with "theynevrcame" in the same old man type of growl as if the cops weren't showing up to investigate his vandalized garage or something.

Pope Guilty - Possession is not a crime, but there is a (rarelly used) fine if you get caught.

Traffic and production are still illegal, and also rarelly prosecuted for small amounts. But that is of little assurance if you want to have a clean record, you know, like I need for my job.

The legal situation is similar to The Netherlands, but their law enforcement have a guideline to focus on other drugs and as such the "legal" market can exist. Not so in Portugal.

In the end you can probably do all that with little problem in Portugal, but you can't be sure, and that sucks pretty much as much as before.

I would just like to add that the significant improvement in the portuguese drug laws was to focus on treatment rather than prosecution for hard drugs, mostly heroin and cocaine. That has taken a huge amount of users off the streets and off the drugs themselves, and is a total success.

"I was kinda emotionally upset for a while, but I'm getting over it."

I wonder what he's doing to take his mind off of it?

Holy shit, Winfield. I grew up half an hour from there. There's a crop on every other property.

Oh, if only certain types of plants were not against the law.

He really does sound genuinely confused about the dope vs. weed issue. I'd give him a pass.
