That's pretty cool. Just stop and think what an impact the internet has had on our culture -- I mean, that's just funny right there.

With this, we can forever enshrine Mallory's valiant struggle for superficiality in her hostile home environment of feminism and liberalism. posted by Burhanistan at 8:23 PM on September 25, 2010 [7 favorites]

This is a fantastic find, definitely the best of the web. Let's ignore the naysaying and wear ourselves some sweaters. posted by houseofdanie at 3:28 AM on September 26, 2010 [1 favorite]
Wow, she looks an awful lot like Michael Bluth. I wonder what's up with that?
Actually, I know what is up with that, thank you very much. posted by pxe2000 at 4:37 AM on September 26, 2010
A few quick notes about this:
- I am kind of surprised at howcontemporary some of the looks are. Isn't American Apparel selling clothes exactly like this right now, and if so should we keep Justine away from Dov Charney?
- Does anyone else find the crewneck sweaters a little irritating on Mallory? It looks like her sweater is strangling her in a bunch of the pics.
- Did the GunneSax trend carry that far into the 1980s? posted by pxe2000 at 4:51 AM on September 26, 2010

Come on, everyone knows that Tumblr requires users to obscure and confuse the source of anything posted!
As for Justine's Tumblr, I imagine her setup process went like this:

Somehow the stray shots in which Alex appears in the frame burying his head in his hands at Mallory's insipidity or slapping his forehead (often wearing clothes very similar to Marty McFly's) are even creepier. posted by blucevalo at 10:06 AM on September 26, 2010
Looking at this, I can't help but get the creepy feeling that we are viewing the tiny, family-friendly tip of this guy's mammoth iceberg of obsession. Somewhere beneath the placid surface, Tina Yothers/Meredith Baxter fanfic lurks. posted by Thorzdad at 10:10 AM on September 26, 2010 [2 favorites]

And tastefully dressed, minimally accessorized, and not slathered underneath layers of makeup.
These slideshow montages would be greatly enhanced by a continuously playing loop of the opening intro to the Family Ties theme. But never shall it get to "I bet we've been together for a million years." posted by Spatch at 1:07 PM on September 26, 2010
I once did the same thing, but with Bob Newhart, from the 70s era Bob Newhart show> The initial idea was to do every single suit, but halfway into season 1, I gave up, and made it a 10 best list. But seriously, His suits on that show were amazing. posted by billyfleetwood at 6:48 PM on September 26, 2010
Remember that episode where Jennifer and Mallory went to the mall and they bought new jeans and they paid extra to have holes punched into the knees so that they wouldn't look new and their dad was angry? That was the best episode ever! I loved Mallory. Mallory and Denise Huxtable were the two coolest tv girls of the 80s.. I wanted to be both of them all at once!
billyfleetwood: Agreed about Bob Newhart's suits! Feel free to link... you know, if you want...! posted by Mael Oui at 7:47 PM on September 26, 2010
