The Lynchsons is a remixed episode of the Simpsons with strange graphical glitches, almost no discernable plot, rythmic noise collages, mis-cued and distorted music, and an overall odd sensibility. The uploading user, shaneduarte has uploaded other Simpsons... things.
Including the trance-like "Tungsten Baby Learns to Love" (included as part of the channel link above),
And so much more. It looks like a certain Newscorp affiliated broadcast company has already turned its eyes to a few of the videos, so enjoy them while you can.
I'm not sure if it's the uncanny valley effect, but for some reason, I find this incredibly disturbing and unsettling.... posted by schmod at 7:31 PM on September 26, 2010

His favorited videos are good too. Some of it is chan-ish, but otherwise a really well curated collection if you're into the style of the stuff in the OP. posted by codacorolla at 8:10 PM on September 26, 2010

I'm comfortable calling it art. It's hard not to watch this without having some kind of reaction. The feelings are mostly negative, but it's certainly not a shock piece. It's genuinely unpleasant and genuinely interesting. posted by Scientist at 8:31 PM on September 26, 2010 [4 favorites]

I agree but I think it doesn't go quite far enough. Not just the look but everything surrounding. Which is to say not just what it is, but how it is and what it does. People have been making art that was similar in content to this since before the beginning of the 21st Century but you had to seek out and go to video installations to see it. The form and ubiquity of dissemination carries as much meaning, I think, as the actual work. Carrier and signal both. posted by penduluum at 8:36 PM on September 26, 2010 [2 favorites]

I don't know if it's intentional, but I catch myself imagining cartoons where in the character's heads there are emotional reflections much like overlaying memories or imaginations. This hit me strongly when I saw the flyover of Springfield in Homer and Marge in bed . posted by quanta and qualia at 5:44 AM on September 27, 2010
