"The Simpson's hometown"? I thought this was going to be about Portland. Why not just say "Springfield"?

Is this where I'm a viking?

Why not just say "Springfield"?
Because theres one in every state, and the post wouldn't be as descriptive

Isn't Springfield Nuclear's parking lot supposed to end just beyond the Simpson's backyard?

I think for this map to work properly you need to view it as a sort Al Jaffe Mad Fold-in.

Wouldn't we all prefer not to have the Simpsons thrust into the limitations of real-world schematics (...and physics, and geography)?

It's kinda like trying to make a map of the Planet Express ship: the layout's changed so many times, accuracy would be impossible. I mean, isn't the graveyard right outside Lisa's bedroom window? Either way, it's a hell of a map / town.

It's pretty awesome for someone to have done this, but good god, that's a very ugly map.

Pfft, can't be that detailed, I mean they still list 743 Evergreen Terrace as Former President Bush's house.

I remember an old map of Springfield, quite possibly put out in whatever the Simpsons magazine was at the time (I subscribe in elementary school) that had the river running east-west. When I moved to Portland years later, the map looked oddly familiar, if rotated 90 degrees.

Of course, I can't find a thing on google, so I'm starting to wonder if I imagined the whole thing.

This doesn't even make any sense. Every major location is ridiculously close together. Did they tear down King Toot's music shop so Moe could have a parking lot?

Hasn't this map been circulating for some time now? I was expecting something new. Where's the Street View map of Springfield?

I remember buying that crappy CDROM thinking they would have the whole town in 3-D, and they did, but it was prerendered for intros and cutscenes. Yargh.

The church was also next to Moe's in the movie. The show has always valued humour over continuity. More effort should have gone into making the map look nice than a futile attempt at being complete.

That’s a lot of infrastructure for a town that has, what like about a hundred or so citizens.

Does that guy Gil work in every store in town?

Using the Harvard student Speingfield map, I tried to recreate Springfield in Simcity 4 . I was impressed by the thought put into it, not to be consistent with every episode, but to show a realistic town development, you had the louche old downtown near the port near the shiny new casino, the respectable city center surrounded by residential blocks, the "old towne" tourist area with the convention center and the local ethnic ghetto, with the slums and big chain stores out beyond the highway which cut the city in half. Very realistic I thought, to how a prosperous but not terribly importNt provincial capital would be laid out. I kept trying to recreate it in Simcity 4 but it fell apart unless I cheated so hard I committed deadly sins.

Then I realized I was using a toy machine to make a toy based based on the possible layout of another fake city and then I stopped.
