Boba Fett: dire straits, or starving artist?

Happy Halloween! Here's a guy in a Boba Fett helmet playing the accordion: Star Wars, Megaman, Zelda one / two / three, Mario Level 2-2, Amelie, Indiana Jones, Back to the Future, Macguyver (sans helmet), Punchout.

Ha! That's my friend Nathan. He made that mask for a party me and my best friend's joint Halloween/birthday parties two years ago. He and his now wife came as Sexy Boba Fett and a Sexy Ewok, respectively. A while later, he needed some cash so he put it on and played outside of Comic Con, and just kept doing it.

Glad to know he's getting exposure, he's a great guy. If you're in NYC, he does parties!

His Facebook page, An interview he did with PBS, his MySpace page.

Times are tough for the empire. I used to see this guy busking in Victoria all the time.

Yeah, there's an 8-year-old in one of my reading groups that's entranced with Mr. Fett. The cult lives on. He'd like to be filling in his thinking maps while wearing that mask.

Yeah! This past summer I saw him in Union Square at least once a week. Every time I walked by I could only think "I have no problem with this. I'm totally okay with this happening."

I see this guy outside the entrance to the High Line all the time. Makes my day every frakking time. Probably the only street musician I regularly give money to.

I play Zelda 3 and Mario (NES) on the accordion and that guy is my new hero.

Always figured Bobba for an accordion guy - it's a very mechanical instrument yet completely enclosed, all buttons and no visible workings. Darth Violinist on the other hand seems too jumpy, you can't crush a rebellion without some decorum.

That's really strange. There's a Marching band in Denver called Boba Fett and the Americans, with, yup, a guy in a Boba Fett costume leading it all. They might even have an accordion player, but some of the peeps from Devotchka are in it, and they def. do.

I want a battle-royale!

The paper-cut animation video for "Tatooine" by Jeremy Messersmith includes a charming recap of the original "Star Wars" trilogy (including a brief appearance by Boba Fett).
