How to talk like Michael Caine

Coogan's impression starts out sounding inferior to Brydon's, but once Coogan incorporates the observant and funny detail about Caine's "specificity", it takes a massive step up. Love it.

I was expecting Craig Ferguson to be involved somehow. Not gonna lie, I was a little disappointed he wasn't.

That was the Chinese translation. The original was When Sean Connery met Michael Caine.

Madness has a rather awesome song about Michael Caine called "Michaels Caine" featuring guest vocals (?) by Michael Caine. Alas, I cannot find a decent YouTube clip of the Caine-filled studio version.

That was freaking funny. Who are those guys, and what is that show? You were only supposed to blow the bloody doors off.

What an odd ending. Such an oddball show. Wish I could see more of it in the States.

e.e.coli- those guys are Rob Brydon and Steve Coogan. Both have loads of comedy under their belt. Worth exploring their solo work and the stuff they have done together. A Cock and Bull Story is the best of their joint work (but only if you are familiar with Tristram Shandy). The individual work is more comic and relies less on a knowledge of 18th Century literrature

Brydon & Coogan on a biscuit trip.

(I could not make it through the The Trip but Partridge (previous post by self) remains sublime genius)

Blazecock Pileon - this is the first of a six-part series, I believe, so hopefully the endings will add more closure later on.

I found it made me sad, which is a pleasant change for me to the cringe-based comedy shows that I've seen recently. And the countryside that Steve Coogan is highlighting is beautiful, even if he doesn't seem to appreciate it...

It's funny how different, but still very accurate, their impressions were. (And how terrible Craig Ferguson's was.)

Caine does that controlled yelling bit that Malkovich does, although Malkovitch has more hysteria and Caine has anger. "Myra! Stop. Hov'ring!"

Too funny. I just listened to Michael Caine on Fresh Air last week. This guy does a fair job!

they left off the punchline -- where, after Coogan delivers his supercilious rebuke, Brydon looks at him blankly for a second, and then says "Shall I fetch the Batmobile, Master Wayne?". It was kind of the highlight/turning point of the programme for me, and underscored why the dynamic worked so well as the episode went on.

And how terrible Craig Ferguson's was

A friend of mine said that Craig's being Scottish is an impediment to his Sean Connery impression. And I listened again, and it's true. Ferguson's Sean Connery is too Scottish. There's something about how Ferguson rolls his 'r's - it's heavier than Connery's accent.

More episodes available in my deleted post:

Also, this show is a quiet revelation, every moment that seems unplanned building on the others...the last scene in episode 4 just blew me away.
