Jigzone- Another great place to waste time at work. The page features a java applet that lets you put together different jigsaw puzzles. I just started working tech support this week and the first day the person that was training me told me about this site. So far it has saved my sanity many a time.

for whom may i ask? i'm not sure if i can say, but let's just leave it that 'one of your friends in the business' drinks too much gin on the weekends. ;)

Thanks for the advice will :) I'll try and quit before I get burnt out, I just need money to keep my money pit of a car going.

Tech support can actually be a pretty fun job, but not for very long. I did tech for a while, and had to wear a pager (and respond to it) at all times 2 or 3 days a week. The first time you're awakened out a dead sleep at 3am to show someone the difference between a slash and a backslash you start questioning your choice, nevermind the 50th time....

Bytecode - exactly. The moment you realize you're burned out on it, quit then.

From what I understand, the post-burnout period can be the most fun. That's when you start leading callers astray on purpose. Windows newbie has a blue screen? "Oh no, that's a 'Trojan SCSI virus'. You'll need to buy a whole new system."

as i always say you americans are always self centered you dont have problems us people in the middle east have. usually i call tech support for something and i find them having major english spelling mistakes

it wasn't quite tech support in the phone sense, but the thing that broke me out of the line of business was travelling half an hour to turn somebody's numlock off. i quit the next day.
