Fooled (and disappointed) again, dammit.

Ha! I was about to post the same thing, brennan. This is awesome, although I wish we lived in an alternate universe where this would be called "Deinonychusize."

That's that song from Blondie?

Is this something I'd have to misrepresent science to understand?

Uhh - I can't seem to make it work from my new handheld supercomputer (aka iPhone). Darn this would be great with those family Xmas shots.

I wouldn't expect it to, newdaddy. It's a zip of a Photoshop document.

Damn. I thought this was going to be abotu birds of prey and was going to come in and talk about seeing some buzzards up close this morning, so what the hell. I was coming back from Zennor out in the Cornish wilds and we came round a corner to find some road kill at the edge of the tarmac and a buzzard (like this one) was sat there pecking away, he was about 1 foot from my window and didn't flinch as we slowed and went past. We stopped for a quick look and he flew about 20 yards away. 400 yards further down the road we went around a corner and there was a dead rabbit in the middle of the road with another buzzard pecking away. It flew up as we approached to sit with its mate on top of a bush about 10 yards from us. Amazing.

I too thought this was going to be about predator birds and was going to ask instead for dromeosaurs. Turns out to be a lame forced meme to which I'd prefer dinosaurs, whether extinct or not.

You know, as cool as birds of prey are, they are no match for the sweet awesomeness that is a Jurassic Park velociraptor. For example, I submit to you this, and on further googling we can continue with more raptor obsession from xkcd with this little puzzle, and the solution to the problem is here.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that the raptor is the best movie monster ever, but it is definitely in the top three along with the Alien and the great white in Jaws.

I was hoping for hawks.

Nearly every week is a raptor week for me.

One likes to sit in the tree outside my window.

This normally would be pretty cool, but I live in Manhattan, so it makes it a bit more amazing.

Hey, juvenile redtail! And with a pale head! I wonder if it's one of Pale Male's offispring?

I'm closer to Inwood Park than Central Park, so it is probably the offspring of the hawks there.

Those are not raptors. Fooled again.

Or, what rtha said.
