This was awesome when we all dismantled the radio (#1) together! Right now I'm mostly sad that we missed out on all the others. This one posted is 7th of 8 with the 9th being mantled now.

Aww man. My search-fu has failed.

It's not a double! I just wish we had had threads for 2 - 6 :)

I loved the radio. Dismantling burger now.

Working on the HDD, which is my favorite so far.

Stuck on dismantling the second patty (?).

I'm also stuck on the second patty layer. WHERE ARE THE CLUES

I was coming back to complain of the same thing painquale did. Stuck! (this is so awesome.)

It's 100% Chicken, painquale!
posted by Rinku at 8:25 PM on December 14, 2010

OK, just solved the chicken patty. I thought about doing that, but I didn't try because that seemed too lame.
posted by tickingclock at 8:26 PM on December 14, 2010

Got it(?)! Thanks, Rinku(?).

Ah, done. I was not expecting the twist at the end.
posted by tickingclock at 8:28 PM on December 14, 2010

But now, without any further burgers (?) to dismantle, my life is empty.

Eponysterical(?)!

Second link tickingclick. There is more dismantling to be had.

Currently dismantling the mouse. It's much harder than the burger!

Eponysterical(?)!

;-)
posted by tickingclock at 8:38 PM on December 14, 2010

That one was relatively easy. I remember having much more trouble dismantling the fan.
posted by rifflesby at 8:40 PM on December 14, 2010

Man! I can't even get started on the mouse...
posted by rifflesby at 8:43 PM on December 14, 2010

rifflesby, did you flip the mouse over to the back side?
posted by tickingclock at 8:45 PM on December 14, 2010

I can't find anywhere to click that accomplishes that.
posted by rifflesby at 8:46 PM on December 14, 2010

Oh! Nevermind! :p
posted by rifflesby at 8:47 PM on December 14, 2010

The circular brown button on the upper right, which usually is says, "close," should say, "back^".

Haha, okay.
posted by tickingclock at 8:48 PM on December 14, 2010

Also, in case anybody gets stuck on the mouse like I do: you can click at the top of the mouse to look at the cord more closely.

That was exactly the point I was stuck at on the mouse, tickingclock. I was about to give up. Thanks!

Totally stuck on the letters puzzle on the mouse...
posted by anazgnos at 9:26 PM on December 14, 2010

I spent about 20 minutes figuring out the freaking donut code and spent 2 minutes with the rest. GHA! That was so frustrating.... I am going to do a bunch more!
posted by munchingzombie at 9:26 PM on December 14, 2010

Man, the fan was brutal. I think I'd better let some frustration ebb away before tackling the toaster and hard drive.
posted by painquale at 9:58 PM on December 14, 2010

Yay! HDD done!

Totally stuck on the letters puzzle on the mouse...

Ya, how is it not the colours of the wires?!?! Maybe it is like the third letter of each colour or something?

I had to guess at the dip switch part too, but it was easy to run through a bunch of combos. But there should be a hint somewhere?!?!

That was a fun little puzzle. Loved the burger.

What is up with the tea canister one...
posted by munchingzombie at 10:15 PM on December 14, 2010

You have the right idea, Joe. Just note that the tomato is repetitive. (It's a pretty bad puzzle in this respect; I would have been pretty mad if I got stuck on it in the same way you did.)

True to form, the HDD is tons of little steps.

Use clues found elsewhere on the tray.

To start with, SPOILER HERE -- HOVER.

If you want hand holding throughout the game, go here and click the "walkthrough" links as needed.

Once I got to the beginning of the "bomb" phase of the tea cannister, I started thinking, "Man, this better be some fuckin' good tea." And it was.
posted by Marisa Stole the Precious Thing at 5:23 AM on December 15, 2010

How in the hell are you guys seeing the logic in the doughnuts? I took a peek at the walkthrough and I still don't see any logic to it. Nor, can I get it to work. I mean, yeah, I see that the iciing is arranged in compass points, but, even armed with the answer, I just am not seeing how one would have divined the correct button order from the doughnuts. Bah.

What kind of sick culture puts bombs in their hamburgers?!
posted by Saxon Kane at 7:06 AM on December 15, 2010 [1 favorite]

How in the hell are you guys seeing the logic in the doughnuts?

If you start with the top left doughnut and follow where the icing points to the next doughnut, the doughnuts are in this order:
167
258
349
If you click the corresponding buttons on the bun in the same order, the screws around those buttons become active. So you click the screws to turn them. Etc.

This is the only one of these that I have ever finished without cheating at all.

Ahhh...You have no idea how radically I was overthinking the doughnuts.

Ok, what do the letters on the HDD stand for? Or, is there somewhere else I can click to start that puzzle?
posted by Four Flavors at 11:05 AM on December 15, 2010

Ah, I see that there's a walkthrough that tells me that there's more on the back.
posted by Four Flavors at 11:10 AM on December 15, 2010

On the HDD, once I have removed the screw that attaches the moving swingarm, I can't figure out how to remove the swingarm itself. When I click it, it just cycles through its positions rather than coming off. The walkthrough seems to indicate it should just come off, but how?
posted by unSane at 1:25 PM on December 15, 2010

Phew, I've finished the burger, radio, toaster, and tea canister so far. Couldn't even really get started on the fan or HDD or alarm clock, got a bit into the mouse before getting stuck. I think I need to take a break from them to clear my brain. XD

Thanks eyeballkid!

I'm always proud of myself when I get through these things quickly without a walkthrough. However, I'm angry as hell at myself for spending like 10 times longer than any other puzzle just staring at those donuts, cross-referencing them with the order of the burger toppings, trying to reconstruct some kind of closed curve by moving the positions of the tiles (actually drawing the donuts on little squares of paper), and having considered and preemptively tossed out the actual solution very early on. ragh.
