OMG CHRISTMAS KITTY. Move over Maru, the internet has a new cat sensation: Linus! He taps things. He licks things. . He apologizes to chairs. And sometimes he wears little costumes (wait for the end).

My cat was in my lap, mao'ing at me, and pawing stuff off the desk, so I pointed at the screen and said, "Hey, at least, I don't do THAT to you."
He promptly jumped off my lap and ran away.

This was my cat Linus, may he rest in peace. We named him Linus because he like to, uh, nurse on your clothes when he sat on you. To avoid a large spitty spot on your pants, it was therefore best to put a blanket between you and the cat.

oh dearie me, the chair apology, my cats brother was exactly like that, and on several occasions petted various table-legs and doors that he had slammed into. And the touching! He's like my cat reincarnated. Next you'll see him jumping backwards, at great heights like like a frog, with a can of tuna stuck on his head.

I'm as crazy cat lady as they come and I think Linus is a super cute kitty, but there is no way that he's a replacement for Maru or Winston. Linus has the cute smooshey face going on but he doesn't really have much as far as personality or real quirkyness goes. He just has your typical garden variety cat personality. I'm not knocking the videos, I love them but not when compared to Maru or Winston.

I've been thinking a lot lately about what it would be like if aliens arrived on Earth whose level of intelligence were to us what our intelligence is to domestic animals. Would they treat us like we treat cats and dogs, as companions in work and play, or would they treat us as cows and pigs, raising us to be slaughtered? Either way, they'd probably put things on and in our bodies without our consent.

Something I never considered about cat ownership cause I had a cat pre-puberty but now have to deal with on a daily basis:
