Eh, it looks photoshopped. If you wanted to do this right, you'd need an unmarked van and some felt. SHE PUTS THE VISINE IN THE BASKET.

Gah!

I guess it's appropriate that Stadler and Waldorf look the most normal with people eyes since they are two of the few muppets that are actually human.

I was significantly less disturbed than I expected to be. The last few years of Internet Desensitizing must be taking hold.

Kermit was severely creepy, Big Bird and Fozzie somewhat less so, but I hardly noticed a difference for Miss Piggy, Statler & Waldorf looked actually more human, and Rowlf, dammit, I love that ol' hound even more with his blue eyes.

I can hardly wait for Cookie Monster. (Does that make me a bad person?)
posted by oneswellfoop at 9:57 PM on December 29, 2010 [2 favorites]

Miss Piggy was the least disturbing for me; she just looked like she'd been snapped for one of those Stars Without Their Makeup features in a tabloid or something. But still—

I guess this is a contest to see who can be the most revulsed? OH GOD PUPPETS THAT LOOK LIKE PEOPLE OH NO!

Sorry if that wasn't convincing. I guess it's just that I can think of thousands of things more horrifying. Like Bush and Iraq and Darfur and like the Hollacaust (NOT GODWINIST! lol) an stuff.

It certainly is. Stop it, Burhanistan.
posted by Sys Rq at 11:48 AM on December 30, 2010

Good grief, Eideteker. I don't think anyone who liked or disliked these pictures was really trying to put them into any global and historical context, comparing them to genocide or war. Any dismay at seeing them is best understood in the context of all possible Muppet photos, and where these stack up along the continuum of "wow, that's charming, I have something in my eye" to "holy shit, that would have been cut from Meet The Feebles because of extreme content".

We get it. You don't mind the photos. Or your entire life is consumed with the thousands of things more horrifying that have ever occurred throughout history so the context from which you view these makes them bland to you. Or something.

No, I'm not mad at all, Eideteker. I just don't really get the need to take something as obviously odd (and to me disturbing) as the subject of this FPP and then mock everyone who is disturbed by it by saying that it's not as horrible as the Holocaust, and therefore not worth being disturbed by. I mean, really? Do you ever look at ANYTHING and not immediately compare it to the Holocaust to see if it's something you are allowed to enjoy or be disturbed by or whatever? I guess I just don't understand the thought processes which go into writing a comment such as yours. When I feel the way you do about something I see on The Blue, I try to frame my posts in context or else just not bother.

posted by Eideteker at 2:32 PM on December 30, 2010

Yeah, or that might happen in reverse. Because if I were to figure out what YOU wrote, I'd be too overwhelmed by the Holocaust to laugh at anything.

People complaining who didn't even bother to look at the site, though ... why post that, and why favorite such a comment? That's just obnoxious. Otherwise, certain people don't get certain comedy. Film at 10.
