Bram Bos, maker of easy-to-use programs for making electronic music, has released all his old software for free download. Get some free VST instruments and samples from KVR Audio and make some music, or at least download Hammerhead and make some beats!

VSTs that I particularly appreciate are Novakill's Killerz package, GTG Synths, especially GTG K, and S3K. Just download the .dll files and tell the programs where you put 'em.

Anyone else still using Reason? I'd love an easier way to integrate some of these, or even to patch it in directly (=pipe dream) if someone knows it.

regarding reason: nope, no easy way to use these. you could use rewire and connect reason to a host application that can also run vsts, but otherwise it's complicated.

I'd love an easier way to integrate some of these, or even to patch it in directly (=pipe dream) if someone knows it. reason 5's samplers have the ability to record sound as well as play them back - it's still a workaround, but a simpler one than earlier versions

Oh shit yeah! My first forays into PC music making was w/Hammerhead. i loved Tunafish, even though it crashed on me more than I wished, but if I can get the full thing for free? Fuck yeah! :D I've got renoise, but... I just am not very good w/trackers...

Which is a link from a site mentioned in the OP that I apparently missed, so oh well. But hey, still worth checking out. To add actual thread content though, here's one from me. It contains possibly the greatest lo-fi Dirty South hand clap ever to exist, so if you ever have need of anything like that, hope this helps...
