Owner puts on bunny mask, puts it on cat, records it taking the thing off, and then reverses the video and puts it on youtube.

Man. 2011 is looking to be a pretty kick-ass year for cat videos.

I don't know man ... as much as I adore cute cat videos, I think I just realized what my 2011 resolution will be, which is to avoid cute cats on teh internets.

I feel dumb after reading your comment empath. My bogus cat video radar is broken. Really broken.

Yeah, definitely played in reverse.

thirding or fourthing the "played in reverse" opinion

You can tell it's being played in reverse when the cat starts saying "I buried Paul".

First line of video description (translated): "This video played in reverse just Mimi wearing hats off, etc."

the cat starts saying "I buried Paul".

I thought it was "Google Rawul Pawls"

It's the weird way the cat's leg moves toward the end that made me think something was strange.

It's the idea that a cat would put on a hat that made me think something was strange.

Still, the cat looks insufficiently upset for me to also be upset, and it's a cute video.

Cats are stupid.

The video cuts off before it shows the cat bringing his owner back to life by telekinetically filling him back up with blood and mending the man's mangled neck with a deft application of suturing, applied via the cat's razor-sharp claws and teeth.

No discussion of cats and costumes would be complete without the madness that is... CAT PRIN: the tailor of a cat!

Cats are stupid.

You're stupid.

The thumping tail at the end that usually signals "I hate you I hate you I hate you" or at least "You're workin ma nerves, human" was a giveaway that it was reversed.
posted by medeine at 11:09 AM on January 4, 2011

ALSO IT'S A HAT NOT A MASK! THIS IS TOTALLY BOGUS!
posted by nebulawindphone at 11:15 AM on January 4, 2011

The "fuck youuuu" look the cat gives at the end is a dead-ringer for those Inception captions.
posted by naju at 11:19 AM on January 4, 2011

I love this even if it is fake. That cat is so, "Yeah, what else ya got, stoopid human?"

Owner puts on bunny mask, puts it on cat, records it taking the thing off, and then reverses the video and puts it on youtube.

Julian Assange, is that you?

The owner is just saying it was played backwards to lull the bunnies into a false sense of security. Beware, rabbits, cats walk among you in bunny masks!

HATS! WAKE UP SHEEPLE!

Cats are stupid.

Cats are much more intelligent than dogs. You would never get eight cats to pull a sledge through the snow, for example.

Anyone who has ever owned a cat knew that this was going to be a reversed video before even opening it. Cats do not put masks over their heads. They do, however, take them off.
posted by Decani at 12:47 PM on January 4, 2011

Q: "But why does that cat do it in reverse?"
A: "Cats are crazy. There is no 'why'."

[I'm sure I missed something.]

Now I want to see a rabbit put on a cat mask. And then I want to see a dog put on a cat mask, then put on a rabbit mask, eat a turducken, and finally reveal the lizard alien master within. Dog turds? They're the shucked souls of the lizard master race, left behind as the invisible puppeteers leave their physical form and merge with the noosphere.

Cat videos are just the Conspiracy softening us up for the final reveal. And when it comes, we shall joyfully praise our new alien overlords.

You read it here first, sheeple.

Beware, rabbits, cats walk among you in bunny masks!

Rabbits are very trusting and have a very poor sense of when something else is disguising itself as a bunny.

I prefer to believe that, just before hitting "record," the cat's owner screamed, "God DAMN it, cat! Don't you DARE put on that BUNNY MASK! I MEAN IT!!!"
