Sentence.    Next Sentence.    Wrong!

You end a sentence with a period.     How many spaces do you use before beginning the next sentence?    If you said two spaces you are wrong.       Very wrong.

I clean data all the time. One of my standard cleansing macros is a multiple space to one space routine. I would say that 50% of the datasets that I came across have double spacing after the period. Of course, YMMV.

How much longer would the Treaty of Westphalia look, I wonder, with two spaces instead of one after each period?

Um, the article just goes on and on about how people have always used either one or two, but it doesn't actually say that it ever became globally accepted as wrong to use two, only that after the end of monospace typefaces it became unnecessary.

I type all of my long texts in a text editor with monospace fonts. I type two spaces after each period. If your text is rendered in HTML, it doesn't even matter -- HTML collapses the spaces to one...
