"I believe in Superman the way some people believe in Jesus,"

Austin writer Chris Roberson has been asked by DC Comics to write the comic book "Superman". Austin's KXAN news ran a story last night featuring an interview with Chris Roberson, the next author of the Superman comic book, the same one that's been in existence since before most of us were born. More inside.

Chris has been previously commented about on MeFi (here, here and here). He also happens to be my old L2 from my days in tech support at Dell back in 1998. I always found him to be smart and funny. I suspect he's somewhere out here on the blue but I don't figure he'd put this post up about himself. I think it's pretty fantastic news.

This post was deleted for the following reason: this is great news for Chris but this is too close to a friendslink to be okay on MetaFilter. -- jessamyn

flubbed the post a little, but still good stuff, I think.
