For fuck sake will somebody PLEASE give DaShiv his own news show? He knows more about this shit than any talking head on any channel, anywhere. America needs you to have a bigger megaphone than just Metafilter.

I took the kind that comes in Zipfizz capsules. Didn't do anything to suppress the appetite but did give me some shakes much like I got when I use to use ephedra (Ripped Fuel).

Devin later got in the water, intending to keep an eye on the alligator. But the animal had apparently slipped under water

Can they do that??!?? Poor kid. I would never have seen that move coming.

Ask post: What do I need to know about creatine?
Two things from my experience come to mind...one is to mix it with juice, I think it absorbs best that way. I'd pick a juice you don't really love, because mixing it with creatine can spoil the flavor of that juice forever. I use apple juice because I'm not all that fond of it. I think grape juice is supposed to be a good combo. Second is that if your experience is like mine you might want to take some Immodium AD with it for the first week, because I definitely found myself running to the... [more]

Find out his favorite player, then buy that guy's rookie card. Frame it. As long as it's not Ernie Banks it should cost you less than $100. God, I hope my Cardinal's fan girlfriend doesn't see me helping you.

Ask post: A Superb Cat Supplement. Where?
Kudos for taking the approach that this is to be used as a stopgap when you can't feed a really good diet. A balanced diet is definitely the way to go and when you're able to feed high quality dinner then supplements can be superfluous. Here's a couple that I like:

Ask post: Dog "magazine" to benefit shelter--ever seen one?
In Seattle we have a glossy, professional publication called CityDog. (http://www.citydogmagazine.com/) It looks like they do them for all big cities. It's a for-profit enterprise though. We also have a publication that's focussed on rescue and adoption and it is interspersed with the kind of articles you describe, it's a free handout.

Whenever we put out a collection jar in our store for Greyhound rescue, the donations pour in. People almost always put their change... [more]

You might be able to make up little $1-donation coupons, put them out near the register at the pet store, and collect just as much money for the shelter without having to create fresh original content about dog-walking every three months.

Would the $1 coupons be reimbursed through the store's cash register though? You really, really don't want to make extra work for the staff if you can avoid it. A store would have to ring it in, collect... [more]

Pullman, eh? Normally I would NEVER help someone from Cougar country :)...but for dogs I'll make an exception. I think you need to try and include Seattle in your distribution for one thing...it's the second largest dog market in the country behind San Fransisco. Lots of dogs that are ultimately placed in Western Washington come from shelters in Eastern Washington...there isn't enough population out there - I personally know of at least two people who make about a once a month drive east to... All Wellness in cans is pate style. The pouches are chunky. In the cans the chicken, turkey, beef and chicken, chicken and herring, and turkey and salmon are all grain free and appropriate for overweight cats.

Evo has a number of different flavors including beef, chicken, duck, and venison. These are all paste-like, but each flavor has a slightly different level of grain. Actually all EVO varieties are grain free.

MeFi post: I Never Drink Water, Fish F**K In It
I am such a sucker for bottled water, I can't even fucking look myself in the mirror. I buy 36 packs at Costco, tall bottles at gas stations, and gallon jugs at work. I'm fucking addicted to it like it's crack cocaine. About a week ago I told myself I would quit buying it and start drinking tap water, and by that afternoon I had convinced myself that buying it in a flavor format was an acceptable loophole. I've been hanging out at Mom's all day and every drop of water I drank was from a... [more]

Ask post: there goes a high, hard one
It will be tough to do based simply on the expected motion of a pitch. What it also requires is familiarity with the specific pitcher. Lots of pitchers throw a two-seam fastfall which is expected to move kind of like a slider. Greg Maddux's two-seam fastball will probably move as much or more than most guy's sliders. Other cues are how batters take pitches. You know Johan Santana just threw another dirty change-up when the batter has completed his swing before the catcher has the ball. A... [more]

Ask post: What do I need to prepare for GMAT exam?
I think you've got PLENTY of materials. I just used the Kaplan CD, it has enough sample tests on there that I didn't feel the need to do any more than that.

Let me give you one tip that I learned as well. In the weeks leading up to the test I hit the Kaplan CD hard, going through all the modules, timing myself, the whole bit. I set it up so I'd take the final practice test the afternoon before the real deal, review it that night and take the GMAT the next day. Well,... [more]

Ask post: How to make an old blind dog comfortable?
Keep him plenty warm, if you have a heating pad or electric blanket that would be good. Place it near his egress to his bathroom spot so he doesn't have to go too far. If his teeth are good keep ice cubes near by for him to chew on so he doesn't have to go far for water. You can also make the ice cubes out of tasty things like low-sodium chicken broth. Feed him tasty, stinky, healthy stuff that is super nutritious like beef tripe. This is all assuming he doesn't have any health problems... [more]

Check out the books by Matt Christopher, his website is here. I read alot of his baseball books as a kid. I was rewatching "The Bad News Bears" the other day and was astounded by how much Buttermaker teaches about nuances in baseball, but alas the sheer quantity of four-letter words in the flick would render it wholly inappropriate for a kid that age.

Have you taken her to play golf with you? I always felt like the reason I am able to cope with failure is because I played so many sports as a kid and learned not only that failure happens but often there's no consequences to failing. Take her with you to a pitch and putt golf course or play other sports with her.

Ask post: squeezing grad school notebooks into a digital realm? is iphoto the way to go?
I worked for many years for a company that did this sort of thing professionally. Most of the work was big jobs, for hospitals, law firms, gov'ts etc. But we had lots of small jobs like this. You might find a company (look under "imaging services") in your local yellow pages who can do this for $.05 per page or less. Dozens of notebooks makes me think hundreds of pages (or even over 1,000 that seems like it would be super time consuming to do at home.

Ask post: What's with the cursing on Aceyalone's Magnificent City? Not a question about quantity or quality...
Lots of cd's are produced for certain chains like WalMart and Target without the cursing. Those companies move alot of music and have the clout to force acts to produce two versions. Then often those versions filter their way to used cd stores as well. Sometimes the versions are simply edited out cusses and sometimes they rewrite the songs without cusses.

I noticed an interesting phenomenon with some Snoop and Dr. Dre records a while back. I enjoyed the clean... [more]

Ask post: Should I become a Secret Shopper?
My sister has been doing it for a long time. What made it pretty good back in the day but tougher now is the price of gas. She'd get a list of stores to shop, they instructed her to spend $10 and thy'd pay her $10 on top...so she got $10 worth of goods and $10 cash for her trouble. She only shopped grocery stores so the compensation wasn't awful but she'd have to spend time doing a write-up on her experience. If you can stay in a relatively compact area and nbot spend resources on gas and... [more]
