I'm close to LA, and will be coming, that's about all I can say. Get Away cafe in Riverside is good. Apple and pear cider on tap.

It's the ghetto? Somehow, I'm not really surprised. Oh well. It's cheap, it's all I've got, and it's better than Nebraska.

Alright, I've got to say something.

What we've got going here is likely that they aren't conservative because of their conservative beliefs, but because of their racist fears and assumptions. Which would be the beginning of the 'homolefty' accusations: they assume anyone who is a lefty is a homo, not that lefties can or cannot be homos.

Basically, they hold individualism more valuable than egalitarianism.

I'm pretty close to San Bernadino, about half an hour. I think that's close. It's been pretty good so far. I'm tired of the ash and the smell, but it's not as bad here as it was in the wind path. I'm glad it seems to be stopping, to say the least. Though the red sun was rather pretty.

Also, the best way to get help is to point at someone and say, "I need help. Do this." Frequently, people aren't quite sure if there really is a problem. When people know there is a problem, and someone has been pointed at and asked for help, they are more likely to do something.

I can actually come, cause I'm moving close to L.A. soon. This would be my first one. It sounds like it should be fun.

mcsweetie-I think the child-free are an anti-family group, at least in how so many people apply 'family' to mean 'children.' In the generic, 'people getting married' they aren't anti-family.

I'm female, and Metafilter seems to be a bit of a boyzone. However, I think it's far more of a geek zone than anything else.

MeTa post: I just noticed a text ad for Suicide Girls, a porn...
I think the site is not only not offensive, but pretty sexy. I've always had a thing for punks/goths and I very much enjoyed getting to see this. And yes, I'm female.

It's nice getting to see people who look like they aren't ashamed of their bodies even when they're doing something that most people might find embarressing. I've always thought it took courage to look unusual or be unusual, and they're wonderful examples.

And yes, this is indeed... [more]

Matt-Thank you, that was exactly what I was trying to say. While many of those women don't weigh much compared to, say, me...they weigh more than most models, and they do have stomaches and such. They look pretty normal. They don't seem to care about it, which is refreshing.

One thing I did kinda to ask is, has anyone other than me ever noticed the "porn" look? It's kind of an expression many people in this sort of stuff have. They look like they're trying to... [more]

This is rather ironic. At the very top of the page, bunnyfire commented that she wondered if other women were offended and how they felt. So far the only one who's been offended is her, unless I missed someone.

I've got a weird habit. Most of the time I don't bother clicking on the actual link unless it looks interesting. What I do for most posts, is click on the comments. If the comments are interesting, and makes it seem like the link is worth it, I'll actually click on the link itself.
