MeTa post: "Ignore" feature
Personally, I don't think ignoring/killfiling is a good idea, but: this greasemonkey script might be the one cortex is referring to.

I would like to point out that repeating something for emphasis is actually an artistic device used pretty frequently. Some notable practitioners: Kurt Vonnegut, Yeats, and The Mountain Goats.

in expressing anything there can be no repetition because the essence of that expression is insistence, and if you insist you must each time use emphasis and if you use emphasis it is not possible while anybody is alive that they should use exactly... [more]

MeTa post: What's in a name?
My name's what happened when this guy got himself a hotmail account. Or something. I'm not even much of a classicist, but he is the source of that "Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?" line which I like.

It always cracks me up that Juvenal's "watches the watchmen" line gets quoted in such solemn tones. He's talking about fake eunuchs, people!

I dunno. Castration seems like pretty serious business.

was there a reason for not letting people link to sites on their profiles or is it just a case of me not knowing any html whatsoever ?

I think choice B. Paste this into your blurb and see if it works (I already tried on my profile and it did, but maybe the cabal is just targeting you):

My score went down overnight without retesting, so maybe they're averaging usernames.

I could be wrong, but I think they're resetting the overall mean to be a 100 every night. I have only one username and my score dropped overnight as well.

Also, while I'm at it, the player only shows the most recent x songs for tags with >x songs (where x is some number I'm too lazy to count). I'm guessing it's probably either a limitation of the player thingy you're using or just a compromise due to performance considerations, but if not, you might take a look at that. Example.

I apologize. I'd played the demo previously (when the full game wasn't even available for purchase yet), but had not replayed the "full version" download through to where the original demo cut off. In my defence, I did have something of a disclaimer to that effect.

Actually, I take that back, I didn't know it was a creative writing class we were talking about. I've taken a lot of those (Eng. major, Cr. Wr. minor) and usually it's not the prof you learn from in those anyways, it's the other students. Besides, why the heck's the prof... [more]

Where's my goddamn pirate ship, cortex? I've been keelhauling and plundering and ARRRRing way more than iamkimiam. It's because I'm oriental isn't it? Everyone sees the slanty eyes and goes "No pirate ship for you. For you, the ninja stars." Discrimination.

I bet you never wrote it a thank you note for that time when your [folks/boyfriend/girlfriend] kicked you out and metafilter let you couch surf for a whole month and you [drank all the beer/ate all the food/took all the drugs] without chipping in to restock the [fridge/stash]. And despite that, it still says "welcome back" at the top of every page. What more do you want?

MeTa post: "Harmful" Flag

It's also why I suggested specific wording: "harmful"/"detrimental". Hopefully that'd deflect use of it simply as a negative "I disagree" flag. It'd be asking the user to use it not if they disagree, but if they think said advice could actively harm the reader.

Ha! You give people way too much credit if you don't think there aren't any bad apples out there that would use "harmful/detrimental" to mean "I disagree"
