Ask post: Where's the best bet for cheap domain name based e-mail hosting?
parcom.net is $3.95 a month for windows based web-hosting with email accounts. Good service, too.

You might as well point out the location of all of your bongs, dildos, and/or other illicit belongings. They'll find them sooner or later.

Ask post: Resources for learning how to draw?
I second "The Natural Way to Draw by Kimon Nicolaides".

Trying only leads to failure. And the more failure the better in this case. That's the only way to get better.

Practice, practice, practice.

Ask post: Recommended CMS on an inflexible platform?
Microsoft's CMS server is an expensive tool to implement. I tried OpenCMS and I absolutely hated it.

We are implementing Jahia where I work. It is all Java and there is a build for Windows. The software is relavitely cheap... The licences are $5K per physical server, and then there are some fees per active and passive users. We ended up with licenses for 2 physical servers, seat licenses, and a bunch of consulting time for under 20K.

The kick ass... [more]

MeFi post: What's next? Banning gays from TN?
Why do people think that Stern should have something to say? He's a comedian... why is that so hard for the blunt of mind to comprehend. Vote Bush out of office. Donate to Kerry.

Stern was fined for a July 2001 broadcast. Insane. This is the religious right hijacking our government, pure and simple. It is all politics and the Bush camp of religious zealots really goofed big by messing with Stern. Watch and see...

Stern hasn't... [more]

MeFi post: Howard Stern yanked off six Clear Channel radio stations
The thing that I find interesting about callers who make comments like this (there are a few here and there on the Stern show, I'm a listener) is how stupid they sound to anyone with a decent set of values in the first place. I heard this comment yesterday and actually laughed out loud, but more because of how retarded the caller made himself look than because of the nature of the comment. Still, I'll laugh at an ethnic joke (caucasian, too) every time, if it is a funny joke.... [more]

MeFi post: bleh
were some local Oregon car dealer ads that were actually nicely produced that featured a chimp as a car security device to much hilarity

Sadly, every local market has these... We had them in Ohia last year. Let me guess. Chimp in trunk, hops out and bashes someone with a lead pipe or a tire iron. The real mystery is not the local market where these originated, but how the meme spread to other local markets and why/how small dealers latch onto these ideas.

cute drawings, yes. but what are they really, except cartoons without characters, plot or humor?

You have to bring something to the table on this one. Besides, it isn't about a long drawn out plot. It seems to be about implied plot with the image + the quirky title. Very subtle, but very good.

So lemme get this straight yeah. The courts don't have the resources to promptly process many criminal cases, which is surprising given those incessant calls for the DC sniper be arrested.

Secondly, D.C. Sniper would be a great name for a band.

I was in the show this morning thinking about how this sniper guy has done alot for making people all over the country think about life and how short it is. Think aobut it. At any moment some crazed sniper could swoop down on you and -POW- with a single shot it is over, just like that. And for those around you, well it is shattered life and shattered dreams. With great abandon and randomness life can be extinguished, and likewise the life of another spared. You have to wonder what goes on in... [more]

Matt should ride around in a wheelchair like Larry Flint and gamble at all of the nicest casinsos (only at the high stakes black jack tables). Why, he'll leave a trail of busted up hotel rooms and fatherless children in his wake. Think of it. Matt's porn empire!

I played with filtering MeFi with the XMLHttp object client side and then parsing the HTML. If worked ok, I even got the forms working. It had quite a few bigs. It was like a proxy. It downloaded the MeFi page, filtered out all of the BS. It got way too complicated, though. Also, to add in all of these features to something like that seems like it wouldn't be technically do-able.

I seriously doubt that MeFi could handle, say, a double in traffic- if some app became... [more]
