Heroes Worship
This is the internets's favorite show. I feel like I'm the only one who felt disappointed by the season. The last episode was anticlimatic (to me at least), the future episode had a myriad of plot holes that don't make sense. Too much hindsight justification in things like:
"Why didn’t Peter just fly into the sky by himself at the end of last season? An EW excerpt:
'It's all about Peter's mental state,' says Ventimiglia.... [more]

I still have no idea why Future Peter had a scar. I mean...he did save Claire in this nightmare future world, right? Considering she was still alive and all.
Yeah, so that's a big problem I had. Future Hiro tells Past Hiro (who he didn't remember meeting so this hasn't happened) to save her so the world won't blow up and that's the reason Sylar could heal himself when Future Hiro in the past stabs Future Sylar in the past (as well as heal from the... I think Future Hiro was from the timeline where the bomb went off and the cheerleader wasn;t saved, but they were in the timeline where the cheerleader was saved but the bomb still didn't go off.
But what about all the bomb memorials in the future? The bomb clearly went off - merged timelines I can buy but that is sloppy stuff.
But yeah, time travel never works out, except for Marty McFly.

The N-word is dead
As a white male american, I don't know how much my take really matters. But it's always seemed to me that if a bully calls you a word and you react, he's going to keep calling you that word. If you shrug it off, he/she moves on. I don't understand why you would want to keep giving that word (or any word) power. Of course I'm not part of the race that got kidnapped and enslaved, so...

I don't have the numbers off my head, but you likely only to pay attention to the controversial opinions, and those are opinions which are more likely going to be split decisions. The vast majority of opinions are not 5-4.
Well if by controversial opinions you mean ones reported on the news (or the news-ish websites like MeFi), then sure. Interesting to see what percentage this term were, but might have to go crunch some numbers. Also the record %... [more]

Some of these shots could be incompetence. However, when you've proven to be deliberately disingenuous at times you lose the benefit of the doubt IMHO. It's not saying much when you can't tell the difference between incompetent and agenda driven material on a network.

A specific gripe ( not so much the idea) per se is (DO NOT READ IF YOU DIDN'T FOLLOW THE LINK):

Anywho, [more inside] would have been the way to go. I even threw it past a friend and it passed the smell test. Guess I need a few more friends. There are legitimate gripes about the post and I suppose I will be much more careful in the future.

Two important points not above:
1). There is not republican candidate, so this would have almost assured her election
2). No other candidate is having this by-law enforced, including the Democratic candidate for governor.

A bright point being lost here (at least for me, I live here).
An openly gay candidate was elected in Alabama.

This is merely a reflection on the Democratic Party. No one should be surprised that they follow rules only when it suits their needs; they've been doing this for quite some time now. This has absolutely nothing to do with the State of Alabama.
You can't seriously be insinuating that the Republican Party is not corrupt here. Fob James was not that long ago. Not as long as 1988.

Reading up a bit more, this appears to just be a case of two people wrestling for control of the party, Reed and Turnham. Unfortunately it seems Todd is in the crossfire.
I can't wait for the great publicity out state gets out of this! Way to go guys!
“If this is the state we’re in, then the Democratic Party is going to hell,” former councilor Aldrich Gunn said.

Yeah, because an MSN beat writer has a much better feel for Alabama politics than a local writer that lives here.
Come to Birmingham. We have a very corrupt local government which extends to any seat from this area. It may seem odd because it's the south, but the mayor and a majority of the city council are African American and (gasp) they learned how to be just as corrupt as any good old white politician. That's just politics, but race baiting is a standard in the city.

Nice to have this in Alabama. Really. My neighboor up the street seems to have been heavily involved in the campaign. Perhaps I'll bring him some cookies tomorrow.

If you like something (music/film/people/food/wine/beer/etc) it automatically is good. Fuck what critics (metafilter's included) say.
I'm not sure I agree. It means you like it, but that is an argument without end. I still weigh in that if a majority of people who specialize in critique in a certain field love or hate something it says something about it's intrinsic goodness/badness.

Only if you put more value on other people's opinions than in your own. Why should the majority rule when it comes to something as relative as taste?
If I like a song and someone else doesn't, even if hundreds of others don't like it, why should that change my opinion... [more]

And it does seem that saying things cannot be labeled good or bad except for your own opinion is a way of justifying your own taste as always good. I love lots of absolute crap.

Yes he did still overreact. You can't do that in a game. You can call names if you want, but you can't assult some. You can ignore them like say an adult would. Or kick his ass in the parking lot after the game like some highschooler, but he fully earned his red card.
