A bug's life?
As a dad of a 7 year old, I can say fairly confidently that he will get into the Spore Creature Creator, it allows kids and adults alike to make creatures of all shapes and sizes including insects such as the praying mantis. and for 10$ is a good deal

Traveling tommorow and have lost my photo id. What to do?
I was able to travel without any problems. Here is what happened. I arrived 90 minutes earlier than I would have otherwise. In the first check-in line I explained to security that my license was lost. My alternative ids satisfied them (credit card and a Costco card which had a low-res photo on it), they marked my boarding pass and told me I would have to go through secondary screening. I'm not sure what would have happened if I had absolutely *no* id, though. My sense is that there is still a... [more]

Hmmm, I'm going to chalk this up to poor question framing on my part. I think I cast too wide a net.(Sorry for the pun)
Trying to do an exhaustive automatic count of the entire world wide web is not my goal. I was hoping for any sort of data, even an informal survey: i.e. of the top 50 sites on Alexa, 30 primarily use css positioning for layout, 20 primarily use tables.
guess I 'll go do it myself (shuffles away)

Which PHP CMS?
Also, to complement the above question, consider how much time and how technically adept you are if you are administering the site. In my experience, even moderately knowledgeable web folks sometimes get overwhelmed at the learning curve for the more powerful cms': Drupal, EE, etc. Sometimes power and flexibility are a liability if you don't have the time to learn how to use it.
Whereas I find there to be less of a learning curve with Wordpress, although it's default... [more]

We're lazy, I admit it.
The only caveat I would add is to check out your floors, if you have to move the dishwasher every time you hook it up to your sink, you'll quickly get tired of lifting it over a lip in the doorway or even if you have tiled floors. Most newer portables seem to skimp on the quality of the wheels, so check them if possible, stay away from the ones that look chintzy. There's a lot of weight bearing on those things, so they should be as good as possible.

How accurate is HBO's In Treatment?
Poster, please define the word "being" in your question. I don't read it as if the poster is going to be acting as a psychotherapist, but perhaps interested in becoming a psychotherapist. The question is not terribly specific. The vice-versa tacked onto the end is also confusing.

My desktop is a mess. Help!
Maybe I missed it above, but didn't seem this advice, which takes 10 seconds or so- just go hardcore and make your desktop read-only therefore forcing you to put files elsewhere. (this is on 10.4 and below, don't know if 10.5 does this, most likely it does)
Get all files and folders off of your Desktop to a new location.
select the Desktop folder in the Finder, choose "Get Info" and change your "Ownership and Permissions" to read only.... [more]

Help me dedicate my book!
This is setting the bar pretty high, IMO, but J.D Salinger's dedication in "Raise High the Roof Beam, Carpenters and Seymour: An Introduction" is beautiful:
If there is an amateur reader still left in the world--or anybody who just reads and runs--I ask him or her, with untellable affection and gratitude, to split the dedication of this book four ways with my wife and children.

Photo scan spots
Are you scanning using the scanner software? I know that HP's software puts auto-sharpening on by default, which can sometimes result in exaggerated speckles/flecks. You can turn this off in the preferences, but it sounds like your problem is a little bit more exaggerated.

What cocktails to serve with sushi?
I had to do this once! After much research I found this mix which was delicious and may fit the bill:
If this isn't exactly what you had in mind, my recommendation would be to look into mixes based on ginger ale, I find it goes well with sushi.

250ml vodka
1L guava juice

Help me figure out how to stick to a good healthy breakfast.
Part of the trick is truly finding something you can look *forward* to: something good enough so that the night before you can't wait to wake up and eat.
For me it's been the breakfast burrito, this is the tastiest recipe for the chorizo part and you can make this in bulk the night before or on the weekend, it will last you the whole week:freeze it in 2 ounce portions, will be ready to cook, crumble and add to eggs. Shirley Tempest is such a great name, I don't know though if it captures the true essence of the ingredients. The unsweetened cranberry juice is the key ingredient here since regular cranberry juice usually has way too much sugar or corn syrup actually. Using the unsweetened cranberry juice allows you to counterbalance with other sweet stuff, ginger ale, grenadine.
Another thought, (and at this point I think I'm talking out loud here). You know how sometimes people call... [more]

Talk to me about talking to my doctor about ADD.
Almost every psychiatrist will give you a form to fill out which will attempt to narrow the diagnosis. For ADD it's trickier because it's still a relatively new category, however what you may want to do is fill out something like a retrospective report (PDF). This one is publicly available from an organization called the Hallowell Center (ignore slightly cheesy website) which specializes in ADD diagnosis and treatment.

How skilled are supermarket sushi chefs and are they lonely?
Heh. There should be a screenplay or novel, but it likely won't be from me. (A documentary would be cool too.) The supermarket sushi chef just strikes me as this interesting case of cultural isolation, a little island of foreign culture set down in the middle of the traditional American foodstuffs: BBQ buffalo wings, deli meats, chicken pot pies, etc.
It just leads me to wonder who buys it, obviously varies from market to market.

Getting many projects done
I would echo the above advice about trying to avoid the multi-tasking if possible. An analogy: it's similar to the debt-snowball theory, where you may have 6 ongoing debts and you choose to pay down the smallest one first, even if it's at a lower interest rate.
Of course the difference is that you will always have ongoing projects. So what I've found successful is using Basecamp to manage projects.
Basecamp is designed to be project collaboration,... [more]
