The challenge, take the usb drive to new levels, you may have seen the
mimobot usb drives, pretty hip but perhaps only Japanese-influenced since manufacturer Mimico is Boston based. The true Japanese usb style is undeniably unbalanced, por ejemplo: The USB Chameleon
(video), the Self-destruction USB hub
(video), the USB motorcycle engine hub
(video), and no movie here but you will be happy to know that the Kore
Janai robot USB drive is the "perfect cool toy" with the uncool appearance.

Tried to do some research about this technology called Trisenx, it's even been mentioned
in the blue back in the day. But honestly I gave up, because
the video and all you may extrapolate from it says everything. And yes, that's George Clinton.

Who's your daddy?
(NSFW) Electroclash Dj bennybenassi trumps his infamous video
'Satisfaction' with an ode to 70's/80's porn films. Makes you think it does not.

NSA gets patent on locating the physical location of web surfers
"There are still many advantages to knowing the physical location of a party one is dealing with across electronically switched networks. For example, in the realm of advertising, knowing the geographic distribution of sales or inquires can be used to measure the effectiveness of advertising across geographic regions." Advertising, mmm hmmm.

Retro arcade photoset.
God bless the gentleman who saved these photos from a 1980's arcade. You will cherish the garish and mock the hair, but this one hits the sweet spot of
nostalgia for me.

Droogle it (and give me a double)
Taking a large page from Google suggests, this is dynamic search at it's slurriest. The
Liquor cabinet, which locates drink recipes based on your available ingredients, seems a bit buggy, but it's a great idea.

Fun Japanese Flash game, although I'm pretty sure I'm missing out on the nuances.

The Logical Song.
Supertramp. From the trademark album "Breakfast in America": the saxophone was recorded with a STC 4038 in the bell and a U87 a couple of feet away for an overall sound. Here are the
lyrics. Use this to sing along with
(Midi File). Download the tune onto your cellphone here
(Mp3).The famous Wurlitzer Piano opener
(Mp3). My earworm work for the day is done, muahahahah

Collaborate! Photography website.
Have you ever wanted to be an art director or are you a photographer looking for an assignment? The Collaborate website lets art directors and photographers connect over the internet and work on creating a photograph. Are there similar photo collaboration sites out there that people know of?

You thought web standards were bad, how about PC, DVD and Recorder standards too?
Well, the FCC has officially mandated that vendors making devices such as dvd players, recorders, pc's, must include (by July 1, 2005) copy-protection mechanisms which will prevent sharing of most digitally
broadcast content. Broadcasters will have the option of adding a 'flag' to data streams which will prevent users from sharing digital content ala mp3's. Yes, there will be ways around this;yes, old systems will still work (maybe), but in the end, the FCC has just established a new technological standard which will end up in all of our new computers, dvd players, tivos, post 2005. Want to do something about it? Sorry. Too
late.

What software version numbers really mean.
Not sure who started the latest trend of dropping version numbers from software. We could always blame Microsoft with Windows
ME . But Macromedia is at fault too with the whole
MX thing. And MX doesn't even stand for anything. Now Adobe is getting into the mix. There will be no Photoshop 8 or Illustrator 11. Just
CS . So is this a good thing? Version numbers may not be exciting but it sure did make it easy to keep track of the latest upgrade.

Newly Digital
is an electronic anthology of sorts. Due to the technological advancement of these things we call "computers", it's a subject ripe for nostalgia. As seen here by bloggers writing about their first . . .

A higher power at work in church steeples
In a move which I can't help think is twistedly brilliant, churches around the nation are beginning to reap benefits from the great wireless expansion. By turning their steeples. Into cellular towers.

GI Easter Bunny Baskets
"The biggest oxymoron going on now is war toys," folksinger Utah Philipps said. "What is war? War is sticking a bayonet into people, we've been through all of this. It's the most awful thing that can happen. And what is a toy? A toy is to have fun with, to amuse yourself. Why are we telling our children that you can have fun with war?. . ."

Takes the phrase "Get a Life" to a new level.
Those masterminds of marketing, those night rocking, day partying satanic minions, KISS, have achieved the ultimate score in product merchandising. That's right, it's your very own KISS coffin, and while you might think "What's the point?", keep in mind that before you shuffle off this mortal coil, it doubles as a beer cooler.

YOU CANNOT OVERKILL this story
Everybody loves Clearchannel, it's true. Here's another reason, as an internal memo from some eager executive is leaked. He's just counting down the seconds until war begins and wants to make sure his affiliates are prepared. Here's a nice sample:
"People who have never listened to our stations will be tuning in out of curiosity, desperation, panic and a hunger for information. RIGHT NOW, convert them to P-1's . . ."

Ambient Information
(NYT reg. required)
Ambient information can be defined as material objects, such as computers, watches or furniture, which interact with digital information and react in certain ways such as sound, color, or light. Apple has filed an intriguing
patent for a computer that could change color when you get an e-mail, for example. So, is this concept the next “new thing” or the next pet rock?

Yes, it's another Internet-only comic strip
But this one would never make it past the security guard at your local newspaper. It happens to be really, really funny, especially if you appreciate humor on the warped side. What are the other worthwhile comics that may be flying under the radar due to their "not quite ready for mainstream" content?

"Verbal" Amon Tobin throws down some old skool TRON visuals.
(Quicktime Required) Amon Tobin not only has come out with a dastardly new album but he's also on tour in the US this next few months; the guy is a master of the sampler and should not be missed. The video rocks hard as well, I'd like to see this one on the big screen.
I sound like a frickin' marketing weasel (which I'm not), but this guy deserves all the publicity he can get.

HEY! That's illegal!
Aw, yeah the motherlode of illegality. The organizers of this exhibit seem to get it all right. The website doesn't skimp on the source material either. Wanna see George Bush wreak havoc on the Teletubbies bunnies? It's
here . Wanna see Wally Wood's (Of
The Realist and
Mad ) version of a Disneyland orgy? It's
here . Public Enemy sampled the Beatles but pulled the song because the licence fees were insane, listen to it
here . Also, don't skip over the "contract" that pops up when you enter the site, it's classic.

Black Blobs on Slum Streets.
Perhaps this is the way the world will end, instead of a cataclysmic apocalypse, the earth will simply turn into a large ball of unidentifiable goo. Seems logical to me.

Hazy shade of summer
Days like today remind me our world is indeed small. Here in the Northeast US the sun never broke through the haze. More forest fires, only these were in Quebec. I had friends as far south as New Jersey notice. How'd the day look to you?

Pac-Man fever, tis driving me crazy.
It was 1981 or so, I was in 6th grade. I had a mom cool enough to take me out of school for a day, give me a few rolls of quarters and send me to this local bar, where I played Pac-Man all day. I made it to the fourth intermission a few times (which was a damn repeat!), how far did you get?

Ancient OS may be the best weapon against hackers.
I thought this was great, aging Operating Systems such as Solaris and older versions of Mac Os are becoming valuable tools against electronic attacks, simply because they *are* older. (Anyone got the full set of floppies for System 7?)

Getting ready to fast this weekend.
We go on vacations from work to relax, recharge, and to gain new perspectives on our life; why not take occasional breaks from food? I do this about every two years and it always seems to "reset" my body and more importantly my mind. Anyone else have fasting experience?

Although the physical reality of this "museum" seems a bit sketchy, you simply have to love lush color photos of carniverous plants. I mean
c'mon! Audrey II would be proud.
