Is there a fast, simple way to create and register a real UPC barcode for a retail product? Seems like all I can find is desktop software for sale or sites that don't seem too official or just don't work. Maybe I'm ignorant and there's something about the process that is more complicated than it seems like it ought to be?

If I wanted to get a hypothetical product, created by a hypothetical design studio, in front of a non-hypothetical audience of professional and amateur video editors, how would you suggest I reach them? I have found a short-list of forums and how-to sites but feel I must be missing some other resources and/or online communities. Thnx.

Ars Magna hosts The Anagrammy Awards,
a monthly anagram competition. This got me thinking that we could "rearrange" the big acronym thread from a few weeks ago so that the first word or phrase of a comment would be an anagram of the last word or phrase of the previous comment.
Sort of like this.

BlogStop.
Where the last word of an entry must be used as an acronym for the next entry. Simple.

This truck garage
across the train-tracks from our studio in Chicago just blew up (an hour or so ago) and our able intern Anthony has posted some footage of the blaze and 2 very brave guys in a cherry-picker. Scary.

For Ali's 60th, The Guardian
reprints Alistair Cooke's original account of the Clay-Liston title bout in 1964. "...quicksilver against concrete. Mercury v the Dragon, a live contemptuous picador planting the flags at will in the neck of a tottering old bull." Was the era that this fight ushered in the last hurrah for the sweet science?
