This song I recorded in 2007, and is about my birthplace of Paterson, New Jersey, the "City of Silk". I used to go to the famous Passaic River Great Falls (made famous in the Sopranos, when the thugs threw the guy off the bridge)... anyway it doesn't have anything to do with the Sopranos, but just my thoughts when I returned to the bridge after 35 years.
My version with the help of Miles
I know I uploaded a previous version. But now I've completed a solo part with my friends who played lead guitar and pedal steel. The rest is me trying to work out this Zappa tune with my own words, midi instruments, and staying true to the basic idea, western theme, music, but with a 'now' twist. I hope you enjoy it, and send me any thoughts that might occur to your wild elephant mind.
A special project of mine to reproduce. No, not sex. Stopping my mental thoughts. Movin' To Nirvana Sooon. Re-wrote the lyrics of this cover after seeing my good friend from the great West recently.
I've was in a bit of a Beatles mood last weekend, and recorded this as well as my previous post of "And Your Bird Can Sing". It's been fun to redo the songs with my arsenal of sampled orchestra, etc. I'm not the greatest singer, but I've learned a lot listening to the original, and working with my own voice.
Beatles cover from "Revolver"
I pushed myself to sit down and write this one, as I haven't had time to write much this year. Just sit down and write while I had time over Thanksgiving. I try to write one for the new year each year. It's still pretty unfinished. I haven't come up with any reserved solo's yet.
I did not rock well last night.
I wrote this in 2004 after the photo's came out of the prisoners being tortured and photographed like prize big game kills at Abu Ghraib in Iraq, though it might have a double meaning. I enjoyed keeping it really simple, with an old drum machine, my Fender Jazz bass, and synthesizers like my digital Moog and Mellotron and Korg. I like making synthetic moods like mono moog moaning. (say that three times...)
Another song from my archive. I wrote and recorded this in 1984. Recorded originally on my Tascam 1/2 inch 15 IPS multi-track.
More from the metal project.
Another ruff mix from Zeke Clemmens - Middle Aged Man. Our spoof on Punk music. Listen LOUD in headphones.
Another one from our new Middle Aged Man project.
From our working album: Zeke Clemmens - Middle Aged Man
I wrote this on December 8th, 1980 right after I heard about John Lennon's murder. I was in college, in Albuquerque N.M., and was so upset I had to take a cold shower to calm down. I wrote it in the shower, and wrote it down when I dried off. We've played it in various bands ever since, and this version was recorded in Chicago in 1995.
My friend Bill got hit by a car while riding his bike in San Raphael, California last month. He's been in a coma, and broke his vertebrae, collarbone, ribs, and has been on a respirator, critical. He has a history of alcoholism, and meth. He came to the midwest because his mother was dying, and after she did, there were ghosts in her house. We wrote and recorded this three years ago when he was in the midwest in 2007. I was planning on finishing it for Halloween this year. But now it makes more sense to me. Wow. Sometimes music transcends time and space.
A new one about memories of being young. And yeah, getting poison ivy is fun when you get it with your high school girlfriend out in the middle of a field when you're seventeen.
White Boy Rap
A musical Poem.
I wrote this song in a redwood grove near Pescadero, California.
Wrote this on my friends farm in Iowa. A good "double" meaning song concerning genetic engineering, both intentional and accidental, animal and vegetable.
I wrote and recorded this song in 1992 in Walnut Creek, California near San Francisco. I remember I was preparing to climb Mt. Whitney. I was pretty prolific in my songwriting then. It was about my first girlfriend, and how we pretty much took our time, and spent many years together during our youth in a healthy relationship. I think it's a pretty good example of a formula pop/love song. I hope you like it!
I wrote this for my song who went to India.
I wrote this song 4 years ago in relationship with how I feel about global warming.
