NATO Ducks Uranium Ban Amid Clamor for Research.
NATO partners split on dangers of depleted uranium weapons.
"U.S. attack jets fired some 31,000 rounds of depleted uranium (DU) ammunition during NATO's 1999 campaign to end Serb repression of ethnic Albanians in Kosovo. About 10,000 rounds were also fired in neighboring Bosnia in 1994-95."Of course, this doesn't count rounds used during the Gulf War.

Bush nominates 'James Watt protege' for Secretary of the Interior.
For those of you who don't remember, Watt was Ronald "trees cause air pollution" Reagan's Secretary of the Interior. He was best known for the following statements: "My responsibility is to follow the Scriptures which call upon us to occupy the land until Jesus returns" and "We don't have to protect the environment, the Second Coming is at hand".
Redwoods, prepare to be chopped! Wildlands, prepare to get drilled!

More nonsense
from everyone's favorite biased
website.
They screw up their own point of course:
"The surge of presidential candidates in the wake of Revision 11 had little impact on counties that use more sophisticated voting procedures and don't have to worry about crowded ballot space."The problem is with the outdated voting procedures, not with third parties.

OK, with all of the whining, crying and teeth gnashing over the electoral process interfering with our oh so happy worker bee lives, I've decided to link to something much more important:
High stakes at The HagueClinton's climate change warning'Massive' pollution cuts neededSince climate change disaster is preparing to bite us all in the ass and no one seems likely to do anything about it, than it doesn't really matter who gets elected president, now does it?
Kudos to the american press for ignoring this story. . .

Has the
BlogHop self rating thing gotten out of hand? Seems like every blog I visit these days has the color stripe (except mine of course).

U.S. mean temperature (January-September) warmest on record.
That's in 105 years. Something to be alarmed about? Maybe, maybe not, but call me concerned, folks. Given the fact that we don't seem to have winter around here anymore, I guess our grandkids will be asking us, "Hey, tell us about the time it was cold!".
Pardon me for posting links in rapid succession; the NCDC website is obscenely slow, if you can get to it at all.

Duke 2000.
If
Nader wasn't getting my vote, Duke would.
He's drugged out, he's freaked out, he's heavily armed, he's ready!

Burning Man.
Does anyone really care anymore? It always seemed like a bogus 'artsy' version of Spring Break to me. Plus it pisses me off that a bunch of rampaging fools trash a perfectly good desert.
