Sex and PsyOps.
An interesting look at sexual propaganda throughout modern military history. Unfortunately slightly censored, but a good look into what may or may not have been an effective demoralization tool.

Reflections On Our Media of Communication.
Traditional news media vs. the internet. Are people really abandoning TV, paper, and radio news? Does the 'net really offer the best in free-press? The ever lovable Fred thinks so, and he's not afraid to tell you why.

Looking over this list of corruption levels by country,
it is evident that there is some correlation between corruption and quality of life. But which is cause and which is effect? And since these numbers are only relative, are things getting better overall, or worse? How corrupt is your country?

Are American elections fixed?
This article discusses the possibility, particularly due to the influx of computer touch-screen voting. While the tilt of the writer is obvious, many valid points are raised. Whatever your affiliation, how can one be comfortable with computer voting?
"It doesn't matter who casts the ballots. What matters is who counts the ballots."

The Supreme Court
is currently hearing arguments about the constitutionality of homosexual sex. While this may not be news, just listening to some of the comments by the conservatives on the court can be a chilling experience, whether you are straight or gay.
Is it possible that there can be supreme court justices, supposedly the best of the best, who are
really this ignorant?

It's official! Watching porn can make you a bad person.
So says the FBI. Get ready for the crackdown. "Pornography teaches ideas that validate aberrant behavior," according to detective Nate Gittins of the Madison County Sheriff’s office.
The use of illicit materials is not exclusively related to sex crimes. It may also lead to other criminal activities, FBI officials say.
Oh my! What does this mean for us deviants?

FDA now officially useless?
Well, it's looking that way.. They are now about to allow
unverified health claims on food labels. They say this is a good thing. I wonder... What function does the FDA have now if it's not to protect the consumer from wild and potentially false claims on their food products?

DVDs are bad for business?
They are, according to the producer of "Attack of the Clones." Although it seems to me that every week I hear about a new box-office record being shattered, Rick McCallum says such things as:
"I don't think there's a single movie that can survive on box office gross alone; it just doesn't exist anymore" and my favorite:
"Literally, our very lives are at stake now. George and I are just praying that we can finish 'Episode III' in time, before it's all over."
What do you think? Legitimate concern, or more ridiculous whining by millionaires lobbying to place restrictions on technogy?

According to this guy
we have become an over-regulated society, directed towards obedience, bordering on totalitarianism. While much of what he says here is not new to us, it does appear that with each new law put into effect, we are incrementally giving up more and more of our freedoms. So, when is the breaking point? Some laws and regulations are necessary, but have we already gone too far?
(More interesting/entertaining rants from him
here.)

What you watch
can now get you arrested. 115, yes
115 people were jailed for attending a club where there was a live sex show on stage. Of course, the cops watched the show for
three hours before busting them all.
I wonder how many murders were committed that same night in Atlanta..

This ad
was banned in the UK. Did anyone see it? Sounds cool to me. In a time when advertisers are struggling to capture people's attention and
dull advertising reigns supreme, why haven't we gotten over this fear of offending those with 'delicate' sensibilities?

$320 Million
worth of aid is going to the people of Afghanistan, and their neighbors. Is this too much? Couldn't this much money dramatically improve the lives of some 3000 or more struggling families here? Is this the proper message to send to terrorist nations?
