I ordered a CD from the neighbor kid raising money for his school. I realize now I'd rather have just made a donation. How could I handle this in the future?

I saw
The Merchant of Venice over the weekend and have a question about the legality of Shylock's action. Since the question involves spoilers, it is inside
one of these three caskets the thread.

On the page which shows me my FPP in the blue, I see a "add tags to this post?" link for each post. But when I click on that link, even though it's a different URL than the usual link to the post (http://www.metafilter.com/comments_active.mefi/
nnnnn rather than http://www.metafilter.com/mefi/
nnnnn), it looks the same as the usual thread page, with nowhere to add additional tags.

How do I get hyperlinks in MS Office 2003 (SP1) to open in my default browser (Maxthon 1.1) rather than IE? I'm on WinXP SP2. Hyperlinks on the desktop or in other apps (e.g., Eudora) open correctly in Maxthon.

Does relativity have any practical significance? In fact, relativity had to be
taken into account by the designers of the Global Positioning System. The GPS satellites are affected both by
special relativity (since the satellites are moving, clocks aboard them appear to run slower as seen from the ground), and by
general relativity (since the satellites are farther away from the mass of the earth, clocks appear to run faster as seen from the ground). The net effect of both is that clocks aboard GPS satellites would gain 38 microseconds per day relative to the ground, if relativistic effects were not corrected for--a figure which can be confirmed by using
Google calculator.

Today's theme ingredient is...APPLES! What apple-based dessert recipe would you recommend for a picnic? 1) I don't care much for the very tart varieties of apple (e.g., Granny Smith), so I prefer a recipe that uses, or at least works with, the less tart varieties. 2) There will be several hours between baking and serving, so it should be servable at room temperature. 3) I'm reasonably skilled in the kitchen; you need not shy away from more difficult recipes.

So let's say I'm looking for a wine to drink on a warm summer day, perhaps on a picnic. I know there's plenty of whites that fit the bill, but I'm in the mood for a red. I want something fairly light, dry, fruit-forward, and not too tannic. Beaujolais and Bardolino come to mind (in fact, I had a nice Bardolino last weekend which fit the bill, which is what prompts the question)--what else do you recommend, either types of wine or specific wines? I'm hard-pressed to come up with a comparable New World wine--anything from the US or Australia?
