It's that time once again. Please feel free to sign up now for another round of the
MeFiSwap. (And yes, the security glitch that plagued a subsection of the site for a few days last time around have been addressed and solved.)

Another Pittsburgh meetup? Twice in one month? Unpossible! But wait, now that we're finally over the first successful meetup hump, maybe not. On August 29, in conjunction with the
Restaurants for Relief Katrina aid event by
Share Our Strength, the
Quiet Storm Coffee House is donating 50% of their dinner income to help rebuild the Gulf coast. Anyone want to have a veg*n meal, some interesting conversation and contribute to a good cause all at once?

Has the
status blog been eliminated? It takes me right back to the front page of the site like all of the joke subdomains that were all the rage back in the day.

Last notice: you have until midnight tonight (just over 20 hours) to sign up for the current session of the
MeFiSwap.

Reminder: There is just one week (give or take 12 hours) to sign up for the latest go of the
MeFiSwap. The more the merrier, and right now participation numbers are kind of low, perhaps because the announcement scrolled off of MeTa in less than 36 hours, so if you were wondering if it's on, yes, it's on! Get in while you can.

For those who are interested, I'm open to running another session of the
MeFiSwap and have fiddled up the site (hat tip to the Metafilter Writers Group for the look) to make it a little easier for everyone to deal with. If you're in, come sign up.

Survey redux... the virtual idea was overwhelmingly shot down, so once again
I'm asking for your input on the future of the MeFiSwap. This will be the last survey, from here we'll move forward to start the next swap on May 1, in whichever format is most preferred, so if you have any inclination toward swap participation whatsoever, please weigh in on this one. (And let's hope this stays on the front page of the grey long enough for everyone to know about this. Spread the word.)

Voice your opinion on the future of the MeFiSwap. Or at least the MeFiSwap as I've got a hand in it. If you've been a part in the past, if you want to be a part in the future, if you've just got a thought you want to share, here's an opportunity.

We've tried it before without success, but third time's the charm? How about a Pittsburgh-area meetup for the holidays? Get together, drink some nog, take some shout-out pics, celebrate the season?

The
Swap deadlines have been rejiggered once again, and it's time to get this ship out of the dock. Sign up now, add your addresses now, get aboard. This is the last hurrah for this session, so don't wait for another reminder!

It lives! It lives! After much fiddling, the MeFiSwap is back, bigger, brighter and better than ever with a new administrative system that will (knock wood) eliminate all of the human delays which have plagued it to date. Come, register, swap.
Also, if you were a part of the last one, please take a minute to
follow-up on its success, if you would. Ta.

Uno tiempo mas con seriedad -- there are more than 30 of us in the Pittsburgh metroplex judging solely by those who've given zip codes. Is there
any interest in a meetup? It's grey, it's cold, it's damp, we're entitled to a little fun, aren't we? (Related question: should we attempt to work through the rubric of
meetup.com? I'd be happy to organize, fwiw.)

As per last month's teaser, the
Swap is back, better than ever and super sex-ay with the php/mysql automation-fu for the new year. Check the latest news before signing up, and have fun with it, kids.

I looked at my profile today and was shocked to see how many people are suddenly residing in zip codes near mine. Any interest in a Pittsburgh MeFi gathering?

Just a reminder: this Saturday is the last day to sign up for the current round of the
MeFi Swap. 143 signed up so far, so this round should be pretty exciting.

I hate to use MeTa for this purpose, but I figure it's worth asking: is anyone interested in another round of the
MeFi Swap? I've received a grand total of 8 e-mails about it since the unannounced and unintended skipping of the '03/Q3 and '03/Q4 swaps, so I'm not sure if there's still enough interest to get things going again.
If there is interest, though, I'm ready to tackle the administrative side of things once again and will open signups for a new quarter ASAP, probably as soon as next Monday. So let me know, folks, if there's still a desire to do this.

Goofy, wrong or misused HTML breaks the style sheet and ruins the appearance of the rest of a
thread. I don't know if this is an IE/Mac only experience, but in any case it really makes reading the rest of a thread difficult, which stinks when the topic is interesting. I may be asking for an elephant gun to kill an ant, but is there some way to alert people when they've got misformed markup in their post?

Would it be a self-link if I mentioned that it's
that time again? I hope not -- MeFi Swap is all about you! And signups for '03/Q2 are now open.

How did the
MeFi Swap work out for everyone else? I will admit that I was amazingly tardy about sending out my mixes, but at the same time, I've only received 3 of the 5 I was expecting. Is there anyone who is still working on their mix? Anyone else wondering "where are those last two discs?"

I'm not sure if this is a bug or not, but when I'm coasting through MeFi, the number of new comments is no longer accurate. In fact, if there are 50 comments on a topic, I'm told that there are 50 new, everytime I come back to the Home page, no matter if I refresh or use my back button, no matter how many times I've read through or even posted comments to a thread. I haven't changed any of my settings and this is on three different computers (all PCs, all using IE 5.0) so I don't think it's a cookie problem, or is it?
