MeTa post: Anyone going to CMWC2008?
Madison's sending a bike polo team, but unfortunately I'm not able to tag along. Please say hi if you see them!

MeTa post: A Milwaukee Meet Up?
I'm a cheesehead, but I'm in Madison. The 9th probably won't work for me, but who knows. Milwaukee has traditionally sent healthy contingents to our meetups, so maybe Madison should return the favor.

Looks like I won't be able to make it, I'll be traveling to the west of the state that weekend. Have fun all!

MeTa post: clavs halloween poll
Since I'm a paunchy dude with a desk job, it'd work best if I went as Robert Hanssen.

MeTa post: Lawrence Metafilter Meetup Tonight!
I sincerely wish I could be there.

MeTa post: Spell out the fucking acronym already
The advantage of using the acronym is that all the people who will be there will instantly recognize it, and you immediately lose all the lazy stupid people who would inevitably sully the meetup with their presence.

It's win-win.

MeTa post: I do not like green links and numbers
I think the sidebar in AskMe as currently constituted is a big fat waste of real estate.

Nobody asked you.

MeTa post: Request: A moratorium on Harry Potter related FPPs
The zeitgeist will always find a place on Metafilter, no matter how irritating or embarrassing you believe it to be.

My suggestion: relax, or stop reading Metafilter. Everyone knows Metatalk is far more entertaining, and with fewer annoying links.

MeTa post: 2007 Madison Meetup?
Anybody have some restrictions we could schedule around?

Yeah, I can't go. Schedule away.

I don't give a rat's ass about Kurt Cobain, but Chris Novoselic is a hell of a bassist.

I still maintain that Dave Grohl's tremendous drumming is key to that band.

I think what's generally happening in this thread is what he had in mind. Though I could be wrong.

I participated in two groups this time around, and sent out 10 cds. I've received only 4.

Some people say you're not getting any CDs because the ones you sent out suck.

Maybe it's you who needs to fulfill a commitment. A commitment to quality.

That map is still wrong - now the other bank is marked. Heh.

I'll try to make it, but I'm getting married on the 26th, so I might be elbow-deep in in-laws and ennui by that point. So no promises.

But interrobang will be in town, and that's as good a reason as any to drink to puke and puke to live.

Not a bad idea. I've heard Verona is full of sad, lonely losers. Perhaps a Metafilter Meetup would be just the thing!
posted to MetaTalk by rocketman at 7:32 PM on July 12, 2006
I'm still interested, but it would appear that we should quickly set a time and place and announce this again, on MetaTalk's front page.

Though I could email the handful of Madison-area MeFites who might be interested.
posted to MetaTalk by rocketman at 10:59 AM on July 17, 2006
I will not show up on the 25th, and interrobang prolly can't make it either.

The 24th might work for me, and the 28th would work as well.

Let's make it the 24th. We could meet at Woody-Anne's.
posted to MetaTalk by rocketman at 7:34 AM on July 24, 2006
Woody-Anne's is on Winnebago, near the old Rayovac factory. It's probably not the best place for a meetup, now that I think about it.

How about Wonder's Pub?

Yes! I didn't understand your joke repetition! It was so tough too wrap-around! My apologies English is not so good for me!

Anyway, sorry about Edmonton. I usually root for Canadian teams. At least, I do when the sport isn't basketball, baseball, or soccer.

MeTa post: The first two posts in this photography thread,...
If you're going to post "meh" to someone's post because you really think the content is overrated -- and not just because you want to throw some anti-gratitude at the poster -- then why not contribute to the conversation and explain why it's not doing anything for you?

That would require people to know something about photography, or whatever the subject of the post is. And it's easier to say "meh" than to know stuff.
