Just The Facts, Ma'am
Stephen comes up with decent, intelligent answers.
I thought the point of this thread was that he doesn't come up with decent, intelligent answers. That he sometimes just googles. And that on those occasions, he doesn't tell us, "I know I'm right because google said so."
I don't know if that's what's happening, but if it is, then that's not cool. AskMe needs to be more than just an elaborate proxy for google.

Sexism debate, displaced.
I'm not particularly interested in whether or not that last "BONUS" sentence was sexist. It shouldn't have been included because it was guaranteed to ruin the chance of a proper discussion of the actual topic. Which sucks, because I wanted to read that no-longer-possible discussion.

I'm glad the thread got derailed. The only interesting thing about it was that the poster was looking for that killer -- or his friend was, or whatever, as if that makes a difference.
The least interesting thing about the thread (and this one) was the people complaining that other people's answers were off-topic. Especially the people who didn't restrict themselves to the MetaTalk -- especially after the link was posted -- and who were therefore themselves in breach of... [more]

I dunno, caddis. Initially I didn't have a problem with the question, which is why I read the thread. But it seems that other people knew exactly who it was aimed at, so they were in a pretty good position to raise their concerns.

And nor do you enforce them. And, as I said before, your "You're wrong" comment was in breach of the guidelines you're apparently so concerned about.
But anyway. This has been an interesting discussion that seems to be just about exhausted.
Until next time...

I have a question about Metafilter's Textad policy....
Fair point. I guess I should've checked that first.
...and, now that I have, it doesn't seem to be the same people.
I've had a comment a minute for four days, and still going strong. I guess I just saw that damned phrase and got angry.
Note to self: don't jump to conclusions.
But while the thread's going --- does Metafilter have a policy to deal with these sorts of issues? I couldn't find anything... [more]
