While following a stavrosthewonderchicken link elsewhere on MetaTalk, I happened upon
this thread, wherein Matt proposed
this idea. What ever happened to this project? I think it sounds like a terrific idea...

While Googling around, I found
this project, done by someone at Berkeley, using a
Metafilter thread to point out various types of 'audience'. It seems to have been done to fulfill one of the assignments in
this course, whose professor calls Metafilter a 'news-oriented weblog' in the syllabus (scroll down near the end of the page). Are you a "Sharer of News"? An "Idea Generator"? A "Quoter"? Or could you be a "Contrarian", or perhaps a "Humorist/Summarist"?

More Pictures of the New York MetaFilter meet-up. Anyone else have any more, from other MetaFilter party localities? Post a link to them in here...

The New York City I first saw in 1985 has partially disappeared, and vanishes more everyday. The New York of 50 years ago, the veneer of daily life in the city, is but a memory. The city of 100 years ago is a shadow, remembered by no one.
But the past remains, if not in direct human memory, in
"lampposts, advertisements, bridges, buildings, signs, and things you pass every day in the street that bear silent witness to the NYC that once was." What lies
forgotten below the streets?
The decaying splendor of an bygone age, as well as
the deep roots that have sprouted and nourished the present, living city...

I think this thread is a
prime example of the kind of things
not to post to MeFi...
