I missed the original, so was glad for the double.
That said, it's anything goes, and I for one intend to have some pancakes.

AlleyMagic.com - discount online magic...
The odd thing about the way this store is set up is that the more categories I set up, the harder it becomes to find anything, because you have more places you have to hunt. The only solution to that is to put items under more than one category, but adds to the muddle too. I'm fairly limited by the templates 1and1.com provides, which doesn't help.
Also, if there's anything special you want me to order, let me know and I can probably get it for you.... [more]

I've finally figured out how to make categories work properly. It should be easier to find things you're looking for now.

I gave up after the first few. I just don't enjoy feeling dumb like I used to.

if you're going to try to set yourself up as some paragon of reason in opposition to another person
You should also probably not say things like "you can shut the hell up".

Extraordinary Renditions
It's hard to pick an especially awful sentence, but here's my favorite:
"Unlike polyglot MP3 blogs, mash-ups, and the iPod's shuffle function—all of which enable exhilarating collisions and unlikely harmonies between different sounds, reflecting a digital-era erosion of musical boundaries—cross-genre covers don't necessarily reflect anything so utopian."
Oh my.

The New Yorker: The Gerbil's Revenge
I find on the whole that if I skip articles written by Sasha Frere-Jones, I enjoy the New Yorker much more than if I read them.
As for Autotune, it's a tool. Autotune doesn't kill music, people kill music. Or something like that.

I dispute that.
"Without question, people will be leaping at the opportunity file a lawsuit against the Starbucks Corporation for discrimination."
I question that.

Up in Smoke?
There are all kinds of regulations on what you can and can't do in your own home/apartment/condo/cave/whatever. Playing loud music is the most obvious analogy. Or what if the person in the apartment next to you enjoyed taunting skunks?
. . .
No, really, it could happen.

Gross Misconduct
Here is part of the company's response:
"In a signed statement by Mr. Bruley that we have released, he states he heard what sounded like a domestic dispute at midnight and then two hours later at 2:00 a.m. he grabbed his shotgun and went to the scene. When he left his apartment armed, he had no indication a gun was in play at the scene. He did not follow procedures and contact 911 at any time that night. We do not condone residents or associates jeopardizing their... [more]

Here is the link to the employer's version of what happened:
http://www.jacksonville.com/images/062107/statement.pdf
If in fact Bruley signed a statement that says, "When he left his apartment armed, he had no indication a gun was in play at the scene" then that is pretty significant. It was 2 hours after the domestic dispute. The article says "When a neighbor screamed she'd been shot, Colin Bruley grabbed his shotgun, found the victim and... [more]
