Why do I hiccup after drinking soda?
wow. This has been an ongoing joke in my family for years. (last time my parents came to town my father shook his head and said "You still don't know how drink?!" )
I thought it was just me, and I've noticed the colder the drink is, the more likely it's going to happen. maybe a new support group is in the works

Software recommendations for creating an affiliate program?
one quick note... CJ and Linkshare are Networks... from the gist of your question, you're looking for software of a script to host on your site.
If you're looking to go an inexpensive route, your best bet is to check the docs of your shopping cart software. Many of them have a fairly basic script already there, it's just a matter of turning it on.

Does it matter if a website's security certificate has expired?
um, I'd be a little concerned (not much mind you)
ip for verifiedbyvisa.barclays.co.uk is 83.231.138.172 (not in their IP block)
that subdomian can be pretty much pointing anywhere if barclay's dns has been compromised(not likely) and there's a very good chance that this IS NOT neccesarily barclay's fault (most likely a 3rd party verification system)
so -- it' is SOMEONE's mistake (either visa or a 3rd party - contracted by them )... [more]

How do I reverse engineer a margarita?
yup, definitely missing the orange -- getting that mix dead on will be difficult-- if they make them in vats there may be a small amount of another ingredient in there-
I tend to use the standard recipe with a splash of Stewart's Key Lime Soda (not sure if it's regional or not) to take the bite out if I use a cheap tequila.

Who wants to party? Or at least pay for it.
You're going local-- most promos (such as radio 'live' events) are done through the distributors from what I know- if you are pals with any bar owners/managers (as a DJ looking for this sort of work, you should probably know a few) ask to get their rep's contact info-- it's not anything secret.
You can probably get the info with a little bit of digging on the corporate sites.. for instance, a few minutes in the FAQ and here is the link to A-B's distributors.... [more]

Good reasonably priced skates for a 10 year old forward?
first off, be thankful he's not a goalie.
I would recommend getting him fitted in a pro shop to get the sizing right and then ordering online. Each manufacturer seems to have its own ideas about sizing.
It looks like you can find some good deals on new skates from CCM and Bauer with a little googling, even with currency conversion to USD.
keep in mind that it's been more than 6 years since I've actually worn a pair of skates tho

Do I have to pay for a service I didn't authorize?
a few things - I know alittle bit about this, worked on a crew for a little bit whilst unemployed:
- tree removal is not cheap, or easy - 400 is a great price, providing that this isn't a small shrub type tree that can be taken down with a small chainsaw and dragged to the curb. If it was a one man job, I'm assuming you would have done it yourself.
And contrary to what many people think, tree removal services (at least the ones I know of) do not profit from... [more]

What is the Best Affiliate Program Software
Wow, I work for one of those solutions and never expected this to come up here, so to keep from sounding like a schill I won't recommend one...
The main thing to keep in mind is that affiliate programs are not a set it and forget it sort of advertising. You need to keep communication up with the affiliates. Have what reporting you want to have available to you in mind, and do your reseach before tallking with anyone's sales department- it'll make things easier for both... [more]

More people throwing trash from car windows?
I've been told that if you strip the paper from the filter itself (usually a cottony type subtance) they actually will degrade. at least the paper will, and the cotton should as well.
(i could be wrong on this)

wireless problems
If you are dropping signal, you may want to try making a cheap antenna mod for your router like this one that basically converts your basic antenna to a more directional one, focusing the signal.
In my old setup I had a 802.11b router 2 rooms away, but a cordless phone base, a microwave AND a wet wall between the router and the PC I was trying to connect to (which had a slightly broken antenna as well). couldn't get a stable signal until I used these little wonders,... [more]

CPU power failure
As a former Support Technician, you may be over your head on this one. I have one suggestion in two parts:
1. Check that ALL power cables are connected to the appropriate places, if they are, reseat them all, making sure especially that the connection to the Motherboard is seated completely.
2. If it still does not boot, take it to a repair shop, if for nothing else to have them run a test on the motherboard and power supply. A good local shop... [more]

How to get an AVI file burnt to DVD with proper audio sync?
The problem you are experiencing usually has to do with the endonding scheme that the AVI was created with. It is most likely Divx/XviD with a VBR (variable bit rate) Audio Track. Transcoding a VBR file almost always results in the audio getting out of synch(at least in my experience)
sun-el is on target... you need to use a modified version of virtualdub (named virtualdub-mp3freeze) to convert the whole shebang to a format that does *not* use variable encoding on the... [more]
