Uh, what the hell Twitter?

Twitter refuses to uphold own Terms of Service. After being shown the very definition of harassment, Twitter alters its terms of service rather than protect one of its users from behavior that its own TOS prohibits.

How do I import 150 unknown RSS feeds?

I have a list of a few hundred sites that I need to subscribe to via RSS. I have the URLs, but not the feed URLs. Is there a way to subscribe en masse without knowing the feed URLs? I need a way to automate this as it's something I'll need to do again in the future.

Have shelves, must fill.

I just bought a bunch of new furniture, including 4 deep bookshelves from Ikea. I didn't fully consider what would go on them at the time, so now they are mostly empty. What should go on them?

Can a podcast include Google videos?

I'd like to offer videos on my site, as well as via a video podcast. I'd like to use Google video to host and share the file -- am I right in thinking that I will still have to have a version on my own server for the podcast?

ScienceBlogs.com - New blogs, new home page This project almost kicked my ass today, but I successfully launched a redesigned and re-conceived ScienceBlogs home page today. The paint is still wet, so don't bang too hard, but there is some really cool functionality in there. Aside from having added about 20 new bloggers, we have scripts reading every word published and attempting to determine the topics that are being discussed. (See the "Wordburst" module, and "latest related entries" above it.) It's hitting more than it misses, so far, but there's a lot of tweaking to do. The intent was to create a ScienceBlogs zeitgeist, a page where you can get a snapshot of what's being discussed, in as close to real-time as Movable Type allows :) We're not 100% there yet, but what we've got is pretty cool.

Evidence against expandable ds?

Does anyone have any documentation/evidence (anecdotal or otherwise) that expandable ads (banner ads that expand beyond the confines of the banner space, usually flash, usually animated) turn users off and/or drive them away?

Small, but unlikely pony request: When a user creates a link to an external site, but forgets the "http://", a MeFi error page results. It would be helpful if the system scanned the links in a post and tried to detect these orphaned links.

ScienceBlogs Seed Media Group has just launched ScienceBlogs, a network of science-minded bloggers. They've been able to collect an impressive initial pool of 14 popular bloggers, including PZ Myers and Chris Mooney. My partner and I designed and built the site for them (another Movable Type-based site, like seedmagazine.com), and I wrote a little more about it here.

CGI query strings in MT?

I'm doing some Movable Type development. I'd like to add a custom query string to the normal mt-search strings. I was hoping to use PHP to do something with the string, but unfortunately I can't run PHP in the CGI files. Any options? I'm not a CGI writer, so I may be missing something obvious.

Peekaboom!

Peekaboom! It's not Friday -- then again this isn't flash -- but it sure is fun. Partner with another anonymous player to identify pictures by gradually revealing them. The kicker is that as we play, the system gets smarter -- the goal is to teach computers how to identify photos the same way we can.

Yahoo Search for Creative Commons Content

Yahoo Releases a beta tool that searches for Creative Commons content. It even allows you to specify the type of license you're interested in (derivitive works, commercial use). Lawrence Lessig obviously has something to say about it. If nothing else, it will increase awareness of the cause.
