Maximizing the benefits of my late-night bike rides....? I like to go out for a vigorous (to me) bike ride late at night (around 1am). I can do about 30km in 55 minutes or so. However, I'm at a loss as to how to ensure that I'm reaping the most benefit from my effort.

I'm in Toronto. A bike I want is in Berkeley, CA. I do not know the seller and he refuses to ship (anywhere). I have a relative in Fresno who does not drive but if the bike can get to him, he can ship it to me. Is there a service or something that I can pay to either ship the bike to me or deliver it to my relative? Ridiculous details inside.

After being lied to repeatedly by my credit card company (PC Financial), I have two iPhone questions: 1) How do I get voice mails from my iPhone onto my computer? and 2) how do I record calls made on an iPhone? I have the 1.0 version of iPhone and an iMac if that makes any difference. Thanks!

Powder Coating in Toronto... who does a good, fast job for a reasonable price? I want to change the color of a bike frame and fork but using google just gives me a bunch of companies in Mississauga with terrible web sites... I'd love a first hand recommendation if anyone's got one.
Also disregarding geography, any advice or caveats regarding powder coating in general? Thanks!

Looking for bags or similar things that can attach to a bike and easily (without tools) be removed that I can carry stuff in. I currently have a
MEC frame bag but it's insufficient, space-wise. I'm also familiar with the
Detours bags, but they only carry 5 lbs. Suggestions...? It's important to me that when the item is off the bike, its fastening system isn't still on the bike (like a basket or panniers). Also, if I can throw it over my shoulder (when not on the bike) that's even better.

I really want to get away from my house to finish up some screenplays for a May 1 deadline. So where can a not-so-rich person go for the last two weeks of April that will allow much peace and quiet while being both safe and warm enough to wander around in short sleeves night and day. Suppose a cost of around $1500--the cheaper the better--including return airfare to Toronto. Note that I like seclusion but I also don't drive so it needs to be someplace close to the necessities.

I have a commercial DVD (the content of which I own the rights to) and I have an mp3 (which I also own the rights to). Two questions: How can I make another "video" using the visuals from the dvd and the audio from the mp3? Then, how can I turn this final file into an .avi? Further, what if I want to run the DVD's audio track at a diminished volume beneath the audio of the mp3, therefore using the mp3 like a commentary track? I'm on a Mac.

Someone takes your child and leaves a bag of cash. What happens to the money? Is it taken permanently by cops/feds and kept as evidence or is it yours to keep? (Note, I'm only interested in the legal answer, not the moral one.) Yes, this is hypothetical but for a story I'm working on.

I'm in Toronto, Canada. A sofa set I want is in Arizona. The seller of the sofa set won't ship anywhere. I cannot fly out and get the sofa. How can I get the sofa? That is, is there someone or a service I can hire in Arizona to go get the sofa, package it up, and ship it to me? The pieces come apart (legs, back, arms) very easily (no tools) and all could ship relatively flat. Suggestions?

I've built plenty of websites. I've never built an e-commerce website. I generally use Dreamhost as a host and Expression Engine as a CMS. What's my next step for building an e-commerce site for a new client? Resources? Recommendations? etc. I'm in Canada if that makes a diff; products will ship world-wide.

I'm doing some research--you can help by listing all stories (fiction or non-fiction, written or filmed) which are either based on the template of
Cyrano de Bergerac (ie, one character using another to woo their love interest) or a mistaken identity/false identity (ie, someone is mistaken for or pretending to be someone or something they are not in order to get something denied their true self).

In June, I am moving into a 1000sf open space place with 14ft high ceilings. I have many large abstract paintings (5 and 6 feet high)... but what about the space above? Anything I can do with it that would maximize my space--for example shelves around the perimeter or...? Any suggestions for things that can go up high and look good and don't require constant access? Links to pix of what other people have done with such high ceilings appreciated.

Finally getting a cell phone. The
only "feature" I care about is reception. I don't need any doodads, email, mp3s, video etc. etc--the only exception is I need to store 75 numbers or more. Price doesn't matter. What phone should I get? I'm in Toronto (east end/beaches) but am willing to buy thru eBay or whatever if necessary. Should I go with Rogers? Fido? Telus? (Refuse to go with Bell so that one's out). Lastly, I'm okay with doodads and whatnot as long as they don't affect reception so if you've got opinions on those, please share. I'm on a Mac.

Need more hard drive space... am about to buy a 500 or 600 gb external (LaCie) drive and mentioned it to a friend and she said not to go higher than a 320 due to overheating problems. Experienced MeFites, what do you say? Also, being a Firewire person, I have a dumb USB 2.0 question: can they be chained together? Any other drive anecdotes that might be useful in my purchase are appreciated. I'm on a Mac.

I don't know shit about poetry but have been enjoying Leonard Cohen, Charles Bukowski, Charles Simic, and Robert Creeley for years. (I mostly like works about relationships, romance, love...) Who else should I read? Also, in addition to "practice", how does one get better at reading/writing poetry. Can you also recommend journals / anthologies / web sites / quarterlies?

I have a self-publishing conundrum: I really like the size of Moleskine notebooks (3.5 x 5.5). I want to put out a book in these dimensions. Lulu and other POD publishers that I've found won't go that small (especially in hardcover). So, my question's a two parter: a. Do you know any way I can get this done (ie, alternatives to Lulu who will do that size)?
b. If I can't find such a company, I'm interested in hand-writing some Moleskines and customizing the covers to make them look more "commercial"--ie, create a dust jacket or sticker or some other alternative. Solutions/suggestions for something that'll look unique and kickass?

Looking for inspiration in two kinds of books. Perhaps you've got some recommendations? 1) Novels with very short "chapters" or fragments or pieces, that combine to make a whole; 2) Books boldly written, whether that be a writer being bold with timelines, punctuation, language, etc. (examples of both types of books inside).

I'd like to self-publish some really short stories similar to the ones on my site. I like this
paper trick and am wondering if anyone knows of any others. My printer does double sided so it would be neat to exploit that, but it's not mandatory. Got any links? Also, I don't want to limit to one-page tricks so any suggestions for self-publishing that
aren't full-on books (like Lulu or
NMK) are appreciated.

Help! I'm participating in tomorrow's Blogathon and my site got mentioned today on Pitchfork because I'll be giving away music during the event. My site's getting pounded and was down for about 3 hours right after the article appeared. The thing is, I haven't even put the tracks up yet!
