Please help me correctly diagnose this video/display problem on my 3-year-old, out-of-warranty Mac Pro.
Am I likely to see the North Lights during a trip to Alaska in late January or early February if I am not there during a new moon?
Someone is selling my articles on eBay.
It has become apparent that a friend is extremely past due for a raise. Given the circumstances, what is the best method of approach?
Does what you eat really matter for weight loss, or is it simply a numbers game?
I'm going to be purchasing a DSLR camera, and am looking for some input on which lens(es) to purchase.
How can I make the most out of repaying my student loans?
How is San Diego as a summer vacation spot? The target date is mid-late August.
Naturally, all of the tie-dye shirts that I have bought at concerts or made myself over the past few years have faded to a white-pinkish mess after the first wash or two. Do you know of a good place, online or off, that sells quality tie-dye shirts? Preferably, I would like shirts sporting the usual designs - The Dead, Phish, The Allman Brothers, etc... Google turns up plenty of vendors; the hard part is figuring out who actually makes the quality goods.
My girlfriend has a fairly new Dell laptop that has suddenly developed a few problems.
My girlfriend lives in an old house in an even older city (Poughkeepsie, New York). The building has obviously been subletted and then rebuilt. We think it was a one family, then a two-family, and now it's a one-family again. The layout is so weird with five bedrooms (one being in the attic), two kitchens and no living or dining rooms that we're really curious to find out what looked like originally. How can we go about digging up these kinds of records? Is there any way to find old floor plans or building codes from public records online or off? Further, can we find out about past owners and tenants?
Do CD-RW drives have a limited number of burns? A couple of computer science majors at my old school told me this and I didn't really beleive it. However, my HP CD-RW has stopped writing discs (but still reads fine). I've had it since the summer of 2000 but granted it's 4 years old, I haven't really pushed it hard. I use it to read CD-ROMS and play music CDs occasionally, and have probably burned a couple-dozen music CDs. Is it kaput, in need of cleaning, or what?
I'm looking for a very simple to-do list that will sit on my desktop. I've searched Google, but a lot of the results that come up are integrated with calendars and other functions I don't have use for. The ones I did download seem suspicious and attempt to contact their home networks; I don't want anybody spying on me. Does anyone use something like this, where I can simply type a linear list of things I have to get done, and have it floating on my dekstop?
My family is computer illiterate, and since I moved out they've been giving the family desktop hell. Every time I come home from a holiday or weekend, ads, spyware and malware have taken it hostage. [more inside]
