You're a singular talent flapjax. It would almost be worth moving to Japan to hang out at your house on Saturday night.

Neat.
The vocal layers on the chorus are really nice.
The bridge is certainly a bridge, and then some. Been listening to some old ELO lately? (Horace Wimp)

Seconding micayetoca. Nothing to criticize, constructively or otherwise.
I'm not sure if the ending flub was purposeful or not but it makes the song.
Great work.

Excellent. Your singer has a very good grasp on this style. And the instruments are fantastic, but you knew that already.

Sparkletone: I guess I meant she seemed set to penetrate the mainstream, of which I am a permanent fixture. And then, lo and behold, when I fire up Rhapsody this morning at work, after writing that last night, there she is on "Top Albums of 2007" playlist.
I just missed her somehow I guess. I'm glad she's getting some recognition as I think what she does is interesting.

The vocals are completely lost in this mix. Her low monotone delivery doesn't mesh well with the very bright guitar work, which is quite good, but overpowering.
With a fresh mix and a little less thorazine in the singer's water bottle, this could be very good.

This song is really a good teaching example of the difference between parts of a song, and the song as a whole.
The individual pieces are fine... drums, guitar, harmonica, bass, vocal... all are "fine" on their own.
But together, they sound disconnected and completely uninspired. Were they recorded separately by different people? Or did you perform everything multi-track?
The vocals, particularly, seem kind of... [more]

I like your posting style, and your track too. This is really very high quality work.
I'm all for the cold ending but that one is whack. Spend the extra bar at the end just letting the ticks resonate out.
The trumpets do sound fake as hell, but they are okay here.
I was gonna recommend doubling the trumpet line a 5th down, but it sounds like you are doing some already.
The droning tones, maybe... [more]

Randy's got the angle on this one.
Drop the electric, go slide.

Cross the 6s
I think this has potential.
I like the guitar, simple, straight-ahead. Very well done.
The effects on the vocals don't work, in my opinion. If you're going to have that kind of heavy effect, then you need to add a buzzing electric guitar or something to help offset it. The contrast between the pure thin guitar and the overprocessed voice was interesting for about 10 seconds, then just turned distracting.
I also think... [more]

This is just perfect, as is.
It is 1am and its been a fantastically long day, and here for a brief moment, listening intently in my headphones, I started to drift away and I was actually transported somewhere equatorial, there were 1940's DeSoto's on the streets, and I could smell cigars in the air.
In another instant, I was back, staring at my screen.
Just wonderful.

The stereo separation is delicious. I have no idea why people are so timid about this normally.
Your falsetto is magnificent.
I'd like some more aggressive strumming from the rhythm guitar during the lead solo. It felt like it was gearing up but missed an upshift.

It's hard for me to properly describe how much I like this because I'm afraid you will think I'm being sarcastic, and nothing could be further from the truth.
This is perhaps my favorite tune on MeMu. This is wonderful, a true epitome of the genre. The lead guitar line is simply amazing.

This is quite good.
The stereo panning of the electric piano is a little too aggressive. I'd narrow it a bit.
The synthy synth mentioned above, yeah, too much. But the line is good, just mellow it.

New Jersey Girls
Great tune.
I second everything phrontist said, along with three other things.
1. I would "thin" the vocals the entire way through by trimming some of the lower frequencies. The whole mix sounds very thin and tinny (see bass comment above) so the vocals need to be shaped to fit, IMO.
2. At the break, the stark drop of the instruments is jarring, sounding premature, and almost like a mistake.
3. Drop the arpeggios at the end.
