Three video sketches based on the data from White...

White Glove Tracking visualization Three video sketches based on the data from White Glove Tracking, the locate-Michael-Jackson's-white-glove-in-his-performance-of-Billie-Jean project that was previously seen on MeFi and MeTa. You can see the videos on YouTube or watch the 640x480 QuickTime movies with better quality. I've also linked to preview JPEG snapshots for a quick peek.
1. Slinky (YouTube) (45MB QuickTime) (JPEG preview) highlights the fluidity of Jackson's movements.
2. Stretchy (YouTube) (45MB QuickTime) (JPEG preview) brings to animated life the variety of glove sizes, positions, and contours.
3. Shapely (YouTube) (33MB QuickTime) (JPEG preview) illustrates the prominence of another type of white glove in Jackson's life: the surgical glove.

A weblog dedicated to the art of the split screen...

Split Screen A weblog dedicated to the art of the split screen and multi-layered visuals, as seen in movies, music videos, commercials and other media based on moving images. Video clips are linked to or embedded if they are available. The site isn't new but this month I began to post regularly again. (Still somehow punting on posting about Timecode, though. Soon!) More info on Split Screen.

A collection of monthly calendars made by members...

Wong Kar-Wai calendar A collection of monthly calendars made by members of wongkarwai.net, where each calendar contains visual elements sourced from and inspired by the work of filmmaker Wong Kar-Wai. A new calendar is added at the beginning of every month. Calendars are nice partly because WKW's films are often about time and memories, but mostly because it provides a timeframe and each volunteering artist gets to make something within a month. For 2007, each person will pick one non-WKW director and do a mashup. I made the January 2007 calendar (GIF) featuring WKW and Peter Greenaway, combining 2046 and Prospero's Books.
